Its pretty much exactly the same as the stock standard original controllers. The only way you can tell a difference is that they start and select buttons are softer.
I have found that its a little too easy to hit a diagonal d-pad combination - but then again, i am getting old and i am not as good at snes games as i once was, but either way, this is well worth the money if you want to relax back on the couch and play some 90's nostalgia.
Do wish the paper insert gave some better instructions - took me a while to figure out that you have to hold down the start button for 5-10 seconds to turn it off
This is the first product ive bought from 8Bitdo. Seen a ton of youtube video reviews but decided to splash out on this for use on my Super Nintendo Classic Mini.
Build quality is superb, simple as. Sturdy, well built and plastics have a great feel. Fits the hands very like the SNES controller. Buttons are good, not too much travel and glad to say the D-Pad is excellent. The wireless dongle does look a bit daft hanging from the front of the unit but its a minor gripe. Wireless range seems good although i did not specificially test the distance.
I ordered the 8Bitdo SF30 controller to use with a SNES Mini Console I had recently bought. One of the major flaws of the SNES Mini Console is the length of the controller wire, which forces you to sit near the console right in front of the TV when playing. The 8Bitdo controller completely fixes this through it's wireless nature,
This controller comes with a receiver that plugs into the controller port on the console and then immediately picks up the signal and auto-syncs with the controller. You can even activate the console when in rest mode by just pushing a button on the controller.
My only complaint with the controller is that whilst it's very close in appearance to a SNES controller, it understandably can't be exact replica. On the front of the gamepad rather than reading Super Nintendo Entertainment System it reads 8Bitdo Gamepad, and the start and select buttons which are diagonal on the original controller are instead horizontal. Having said that the overall look and feel is correct.
Overall though this is an excellent controller and should be considered a must-have for anyone buying a SNES Mini that doesn't want to be tethered to their TV. I'm considering buying a second for multi-player as they are supposed to be compatible.
Only had this controller a week or so but what an excellent item. Paired automatically after I plugged in receiver and hit start. Very responsive. No lag that I can notice anyway. Has given a new lease of life to my SNES mini. Have improved in mario world, doc and super punch out with this controller. Also got the Hori one and the 8bitdo knocks the socks off it.
Only gave 4 stars as only works with the supplied dongle on SNES mini as not Bluetooth. Nevertheless an Excellent product. Would definitely buy 8bitdo products again. It’s better than a SNES original imo.
Very close to a OEM product! feels great but the D-Pad is a little squishy for fighting games; I play Yoshi's Island and Killer Instinct almost exclusively and while Yoshi's Island feels great and how i remember playing, the controller really struggles with Killer instincts need for really precise d-pad input. Do not regret this purchase as the ability to jump to the main menu via controller alone is worth it; although the next purchase may well be a PS4 controller with an adaptor.
I had already purchased cable extensions for the official controllers that come with the SNES Classic, but I wouldn't have if I discovered this first.
This works perfectly. It feels and controls just like the original, and the fact that it has a built in shortcut for the console's Reset Button is super handy for reaching the main menu without having to get up off the couch. Also, the controller needed no firmware updates. Just charge the controller, plug in the Bluetooth adapter, and it will work right out of the box.
If I had to nitpick, the Bluetooth adapter that plugs into the Classic's controller port is rather large and unsightly. Also, I would have liked the charging port to be Type C, rather than Type B.

Honestly a great controller. Build quality is solid, buttons remind me of the SNES days. I bought it to play retro/indi games on Nintendo Switch. Turns you can't update the firmware of this controller, which means no Nintendo Switch support... This lack of compatibility should be the first thing people see when they research this item.
