I've tried loads of different speakers but nothing designed specifically for conference calls and this Jabra Speak 710 seems to well-reviewed.
The main difference between this and standard Bluetooth speakers is the audio. It's basically been tuned to elevate mid-range frequencies to optimize voices, and it does that very well - voice clarity is amazing! Jabra says this is also ideal for music, but I have to disagree. To my ears, it lacks the punch and depth required for music. Even my little ANKER Soundcore Mini is better for music than this. It is, however, brilliant for listening to audiobooks.
The other difference is obviously the 360-degree omnidirectional microphone which also works fantastic - much better than a standard microphone. It is clear and picks up voices as far as 3 meters away. It's designed to work with up to 6 people, but realistically, it can work with as many people as you want as long as they're within 3 meters of the speaker. For bigger tables, I would recommend two of these speakers (paired).
This can be connected to any device that supports Bluetooth. For computers lacking Bluetooth, you can use the USB Bluetooth dongle located in the base of the speaker.
Unlike some Bluetooth speakers, this has all the buttons built-in to the actual speaker so you can control it without needing to touch the source device.
Battery life is estimated to be around 15 hours which seems about right.
Price-wise, it's not particularly great value, but given the fact it sounds and functions perfectly for conference calling, it's difficult not to buy one. Just stick a couple through the business. ;)
This is a really good and useful portable speakerphone. The size is compact - around the size of half an orange - the build quality solid, and the Speak 710 comes with a drawstring-closing fabric storage/carry bag. I had thought that the best use for this would be relating to its portability for travel purposes, but actually a lot of the same properties make this ideal for home working, when you don't have a home office/the one you have doesn't have a great deal of space/you don't want a load of clutter on your desk/you're trying to simultaneously home work and mind kids who aren't in school because of lockdown/you're working from a laptop and want to be mobile around your space/the family want to communicate in groups. We have used it a LOT more during the time in which travel has been prohibited than we did before.
This is a small but surprisingly effective device. It connects easily via USB or Bluetooth. We have used this with a range of devices including iMac, MacBook, Chromebook, Android phones, iPad, Fire tablet, and Galaxy tab. The battery life for this is excellent, and it can be used when charging. It's simple enough to use that my septuagenarian parents can set it up in order to talk to family members estranged by lockdown. The sound quality is excellent for such a compact device: this picks up 360 degree sound that permits family members spaced around a room to hear and be heard clearly. Beautifully presented, this would make a really nice present.
Absolutely love this beyond words and have been completely blown away by how great it is. We've had it a couple of weeks or so now and so have had lots of time to fall in love with it under lots of different scenarios. Didn't doubt it's capabilities for conference calls/family video calls etc and it captures audio really well from all angles on that front (people have been amazed on Skype calls when 3 or 4 of us are all gabbling around the kitchen table at once), but really wasn't sure how good this would be in doubling up as a decent Bluetooth speaker too, but it's absolutely awesome (likewise if you prefer it wired in) with not one drop out or buffering nonsense or any issues at all. Really great immersive cinematic sound for streaming videos or watching films as this knocks my laptop speakers out of the water and so much easier than wired in speakers or mediocre Bluetooth speakers at a desktop too - this connects with no issue what so ever, takes up hardly any space at all and also actually looks pretty awesome too. It's just very neat, easy and compact. So compact that it's hard to believe it could sound this good as it sounds tons better than Bluetooth speakers I've tried that are nearly 10 times the size.
For playing music whilst working it's also great as again it sits on the desk without taking up any space or any time/hassle with setting it up or issues and has a lovely full sound which you just wouldn't think could come from such a small speaker - it give it's all and asks for virtually nothing back! The perfect audio-spouse. Battery life is great for this level of audio quality too and only takes less than 3 hours to charge it up fully and I just can't think of a single bad word to say about it - although it has made me take even longer in the bath on a Sunday morning as I can just keep topping the hot water up whilst streaming Steve Wright on Radio 2 through this in the bathroom - bliss!
This review is for the Jabra Speak 710 UC Conference Speakerphone.
I am very familiar with Jabra products since owning several of their headphones and speakers, therefore I was very excited when asked to review this. I have been waiting a little longer to review it as I wanted more use out of it to formulate my honest unbiased opinion.
In my honest opinion, Jabra has been able to condense everything you need in a perfectly all-round speakerphone such as; the ability to conference call multiple people at once, wireless bluetooth listening for music and Google Home & Alexa compatibility - all plug and play!
Design & Build Quality:
It features a very sleek, professional design with a minimalistic glossy finish - perfect for business or any situation.
It is very lightweight, although sturdy, weighing at only 290 grams, it is very portable and is probably the lightest high quality speakerphone I have tested.
The front of the speaker is touch sensitive, highly responsive and can be turned on via the power button at the touch of a finger. Due to its glossy appearance the front of the speaker can be scratched and must be handled with care and cleaned regularly.
The back of the speaker contains a built in kickstand for standing it at an angle and a dongal compartment for devices which don’t support bluetooth.
Embedded within its ring like shape, Jabra has cleverly compartmentalised its USB charging cable which can be wrapped around it for easy storage - no need to carry around wires anymore.
Design wise, for such a compact and portable speaker, this is the best you are going to get.
Features:
The speaker contains 12 LED lights at the front of its touch sensitive panel for:
- Increasing and decreasing the volume - Calling and hanging up - a button to activate Siri/Google Home/Alexa - A battery indicator - A button to activate or mute the microphone - A button to link more than one speaker
The LED’s will change function/symbol depending on what you are currently using it for, for example, the microphone button will only light up if a call is active otherwise it will dim itself for battery saving.
Sound Quality & Conference Calling:
Where do I start, the microphone on this thing is phenomenal. I have now parted ways with my current headphones and opted in for this speaker during Skype calls, playing games and calling as the call quality for myself and others is unmatched and I have been told I am a lot more clear.
It features a noise cancelling microphone which clears out background noise, making it the perfect speaker phone for noisy environments. Due to the nature of conference calling containing several individuals, this is beneficial to eliminate noise pollution during online-meetings.
I was overly impressed with its music capabilities as a wireless speaker, it gives a very balanced sound that doesn’t ignore the high tones, mids or the bass. One of these speakers can fill a whole room with clear sounding music, I cannot imagine how two would sound and I am honestly contemplating buying another just to test it. Watching netflix with this thing made me feel like I was in a cinema.
(In the video I posted I am testing the sound of the speaker at only 50% as it was night time and I did not want to wake the neighbours).
But as you can see, the sound quality is superb.
Bluetooth & Connectivity:
The speaker phone is plug and play and can be instantly listened to in seconds or you can simply listen to it via bluetooth. It uses the latest bluetooth technology therefore it can be paired with any bluetooth device.
It has the ability to connect to multiple devices at once in seconds and you can also pair two speakers at the one time for the ultimate cinematic-stereo sounding experience.
The Bluetooth connectivity didn’t display any problems and no disconnections occurred after prolonged usage. Its Bluetooth range can reach up to lengths of 100 ft. The speaker also remembers your device and will connect to it as soon as it is turned on.
Charging & Battery Life:
It comes fully charged and after a two weeks of using it I finally had to charge it. Charging time is quick, after 2 hours I had a full battery; which lasts 15 hours of continued use.
The speaker is able to be charged and listened to at the same time without the need of bluetooth being turned on if you prefer wiring your speaker. I found this perfect for the PS4 as my monitor lacks built in speakers. Therefore if they are plugged in they will never run out.
What comes in the box:
It comes in branded Jabra retail packaging which makes it perfect for a gift. Included in its box comes its user manual and soft carry case that zips tightly.
Overall thoughts:
This speakerphone is simply unmatched by any speakers I have currently tested that is intended for both HD quality calling and listening. You will not find a speaker of this sound quality in such a compact device.
It is simply as perfect you will get in a wireless speaker. If you are considering high definition speakers to add to your desktop setup, for business or for daily lounging then pick these up.
The feeling of being able to pair these to your devices, removing them to clean around and taking them on the go with you is amazing.
They are very compact and sound like more expensive speakers with subwoofers, therefore the versatility of this speaker is endless and really declutters the space on your desk. They pair well with smart televisions equally.
10/10. I am purchasing another speaker.

As soon as you unpack the speaker and hold it you know you have a quality product. Not only that but this device is truly plug and play.
It will take around 3 hours to fully charge the speaker and you will get around 15 hours of untethered talk time. The charging cable is built in and wrapped around the edge, the good news being that the cable is a metre long, 100cm or if you still go imperial, 39 inches. When not in use it powers down after 15 minutes and it can apparently be left on standby for over 400 days.
It will cover a meeting for up to six people.
There is a built-in stand and the bluetooth adaptor is held in its own little slot on the back.
When you switch the device on the black outer ring explodes into life, to show you touch sensitive icons. A battery indicator, volume controls, bluetooth icon for connecting and answer and end call telephone icons. There is also a link icon and one for voice assist and smart dialling.
It takes seconds to pair your device and it is as easy as 1-2-3. I have my MacBook as a Softphone connected through the USB link and on my Smartphone with Bluetooth for speed dial.
Download the connection software and you can customise certain aspects of the device, just visit the Jabra website.
You will be pleased to know that the device is compatible with most office platforms and if you have something a little less known it will still work on audio.
It is portable, but if you have two you can combine them and have a set of stereo speakers.
Sound quality on calls is clear, crisp and sharp, for music it is a little too clean, but the speaker is designed for voice calls first and it excels. It is great for talking books too.
It is also a seriously cool design, lay it flat on the table and the omni-directional microphone will pick up sounds with excellent clarity. It has a 10W output so is sufficiently loud and range on wireless depends on your environment but is around 30m or 100ft.
For personal use you can pair up to 8 devices.
Its not cheap but you get what you pay for with this Jabra Speak 710 and that’s quality. With a two year warranty, a protective neoprene case and free software updates what’s not to like?

Jabra Speak 710 Portable UC Conference Speakerphone The Jabra Speak 710 comes in a fairly understated, small box that opens like a drawer. Inside the Speak 710 is already in its very nice padded, zip-up carry case, there is also a Get Started guide book in several languages and a small safety manual (the thing that hardly anyone reads). The Get Started guide book says the unit is fully charged in three hours. So after charging, I got on with setting the unit up and trying it out. Setting up is simplicity itself, the guide shows how the controls are laid out around the periphery and once you switch on, by touching the power symbol, it bursts into life. I decided first to connect my Android smartphone, by touching the Bluetooth symbol it turns blue while a voice prompt guides you through how to go about connecting your phone. It’s all quick, easy and done in no time at all. I used the Speak 710 to make some local calls, I told everyone I called that I was testing a new device and they all commented how clear it was. My friend and I made a Skype call to my Brother in France, he could hear both of us well and made the same remark about the clarity. Connecting to my iPad as an external Bluetooth speaker was just as simple as the smartphone. The sound quality when playing music really is very good. Mid and High tones are reproduced well while the Bass sounds are a little subdued. However, music is very clear and despite less pronounced Bass there is still plenty and the tone is not at all thin or tinny, the sound is well balanced. Two of the Speak 710 units can be interconnected for stereo and would no doubt produce even better sound. I would love to try two units but sadly I only have the one at the moment. While connected to the iPad the sound level of the unit can be adjusted by the (+) Plus and (-) Minus symbols, it also links directly to the iPad control keys. A ring of 12 LEDs around the unit lights up to give a visible indication of the volume level. It is possible to connect the Speak 710 directly or by Bluetooth, in case you don’t have Bluetooth facility on your laptop or computer an adapter is included and is clipped into a space in the underside of the Speak 710. Direct USB connection to a Windows PC or Apple Mac allows you to run the Jabra Direct software. This enables you to examine the status of the Speak 710 and to change some of the settings. You can for instance update the firmware, change the device name or turn the voice guidance off/on. There is a softphone facility that allows you to answer mute and end calls directly from the Speak 710. The Jabra Direct program has facilities, many of which you may seldom need but they are there in abundance if you do. The Jabra 710 is small enough and handy enough to carry around to use as a conference phone and as a high-quality external speaker. Because of everything the Jabra 710 can do and because of the quality and ease of use, I would consider it to be good value for your money.
