After less then a year from purchase the USB cord on the cat would pop out with frequency. You had to use weights and rig the cord in such a way just to get a full charge. The 2nd defect is if you do not place the remote down with a gentle touch, it would change the preexisting light setting.
It clearly states in the description that you can "keep on all night." False. First night it went out at exactly 3 hours. Nightlights are meant to help find your way in a dark room and to keep kids from waking up in complete darkness. So no, I am not happy with this false advertising. It is a good light but 2 stars for clearly false advertising.
So the 1st day, the remote worked and everything was great. I liked the brightness and dimming capability and what not (while the remote was working) then the next day all of a sudden the remote doesn't work with it and it only changes by picking it up and putting it down multiple times.
Possibly user error but I'm not sure how that would change over night.
Great for the light itself but don't expect a working remote which also means color changing options or dimming options also don't work.
I'm not sure if it's supposed to do this but ours only lasts for less than two hours if it's not plugged in (even though we fully charge it). It's also difficult to keep it plugged in because the plug is on the bottom of the cat so the nightlight can't sit evenly on any surface. Finally, a row of the colors on the remote control don't work (ie., you push orange and the cat turns blue). The brightness is good for us and our son still likes it (because it's a cute cat) but I would not recommend. There are other better cute cat options, I'm sure.
I'm pretty disappointed. I expected a lamp I could turn on and off with a touch, but it requires a solid bonk on the head... IF it's already turned on, that is. It has to be woken up before it can be bonked. You can't wake it up with the remote, either. Oh, no. You have to pick up and turn the whole thing over, and hit the power button on the bottom. THEN you can use the remote or the "touch" (more like "whack") feature.
Oh, and don't forget that it'll be set off by putting it back down on your nightstand or whatever. Gotta give it another couple bonks to put it back into a white glow. Having to turn it over and press in a button wouldn't be so bad, either, if it weren't so squishy, and collapse in a bit in your hand if you're not careful. Makes it annoying to pick up. Also, as the USB port is on the bottom, it has to be on its side to be charged as well. So you can't really use it while it's charging.
For what it is, though. I like it okay. It's an adorable decorative piece when off, and a nice, low, soft light for when I'm reading or scrolling on my phone before bed, helping me prepare for sleep. The brightness adjuster and different colors are nice, too.
Overall I liked it enough to keep it, but I don't know if I would recommend it.
I *really* wanted to give this lamp five stars. It’s adorable, the colors are beautiful and it has a perfect level of light. HOWEVER. I bought this lamp for my seven year old niece to use as a nightlight. The problem is, this light will not stay on all night. Nowhere in the description here on Amazon does it explain this. We only discovered it listed toward the end of the instruction sheet. And not only does it turn off, but it turns COMPLETELY off. So even when I tried tapping and touching it, it remained off. I had to pick the light up and manually turn it on, or use the remote to turn it on again. The whole purpose was for there to be a soft light in case my niece woke up in the middle of the night. Having her wake up in pitch darkness and be forced to feel for the light and turn it on defeats the entire purpose.
