To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Bought this for a home network as I wanted a managed network at home. This was great performance for the money. Insight pro was exactly what I was looking . Only draw back was insight pro was a subscription, but it was only like $32/year so not bad at all. I did how ever end up returning this as there wasn’t enough ports. I ended ordering the gc728x very similar model. Overall I would highly recommend this if you are looking for a managed network.
I bought it from warehouse deal. Not sure it has hardware or software issue. Its ports go up and down once in while at midnight. Sometimes it loses connection with its cloud server. Its local UI is second to none after one year subscription is expired. I am thinking about switching to TP-Link Omada supported poe switch.
Entre más lo uso más frustrante se vuelve. Si quieres manejarlo por medio de la nube de netgear o la aplicación insight está bien. Si lo quieres administrar o monitorear localmente olvídalo, mejor busca otro modelo o otra marca
if you have more than 1 of these in one place, you have to pay them money to use insight. that's on top of the ridiculous $200 price tag. i regret buying it and wish i would have went with something else and just sent up port forwarding in the firewall to achieve literally the same exact thing. but i already installed it and i'm not going to tear up the client's utility closet right after i finished setting it up.
in the future, i will strictly exclude everything netgear from consideration. congratulations guys! your stupid nickel and diming lost you three 48 port PoE+ switch sales just this week alone.
Great switch with plenty of settings and information what each port is doing. Way more then any home or small business owner will need. No need for the mobile app or pay for the use of the cloud to keep an eye on the switch. The web interface or the Berger’s software that runs on you computer is all you need. Chances that you have your vpn setup to call home anyway so no need for the cloud and extra fees to pay. I would never open any device to the internet that doesn’t need access, like switches, printers, router or security cameras. Will most likely buy more of those switches when needed. Great value.
The hardware itself is fine but the mobile up shows that Netgear is not ready to compete with the other companies like Ubiquity or Meraki for cloud/app managed device. First the iPad is not able to find the device. The iPhone finds it but then the software either crashes repeatedly. Tried this on both a iPhone 7 and 8. During the few times where the software works, it gives an error when you try to access the device. If you need just some dump switch at the office, this works fine but why would you pay extra...just get the cheaper switches. If you're not technical and are hoping for a easy and seamless install for you home network, skip it.
I would not purchase Devices with Insight. Certainly don't purchase Insight Bundles or Insight Subscriptions as the device credits (aka subscriptions) are not usable on Netgear's Insight Web Site. I spent two weeks with Netgear Support and they had no option to resolve the issue. I returned all of the device credits for refund as it turns our you have to purchase device credits directly from Netgear! Further a lot of advanced settings are NOT available from the Insight Cloud and what is worse if you change a Insight device from Cloud to Direct Management you loose all settings -- its either or! I think we should consider Insight an very very early beta! If your have to use Local Management to get to advanced features then save you money and use ProSafe Devices and save the money!
This is a cloud managed l2+ switch. Plenty of power for most applications. Overall this is a good product. Carries VLANS, works with VOIPs, works cool, and has fast uplinks. If it had a little more horsepower (cpu), it would be pushing five star ratings. The Netgear Insight cloud managed software on a PC and phone seems to be getting better. Since my initial install of the products, I called tech support twice, and they resolved the issues and released software updates. Overall, I am impressed with this product line, and I now have over 25 Netgear devices installed (and growing). I replaced and entire Meraki network with this equipment and never looked back.
A call to netgear came up with this... .. we "netgear" "will not remove it from a mange cloud account" making these worthless if bought used.. shame on you guys there are thousands out there used waiting for another victim to buy only to have the product be useless and venerable security wise from a previous owner..
If you reset it it will go to the cloud and reconfigure it self to the old owners account including password making them a paper weight
