While overall a light and engaging beach read, I was dismayed that it portrays an episode of statutory rape, and the perpetrator is not held accountable to save upsetting the father. This is an outrage. I recommend being very careful about choosing this book for yourself or others.
I had high hopes for this book since I have been to the North Fork many times. Instead, I found this to be a slow read and way too many names/characters factored in without much use or interest for them.
I wanted to love this book. I picked it up and started it more times than I care to admit. But each time I just ended up putting it back down and forgetting about it. The characters didn’t do it for me and the storylines just didn’t hold my interest. Eventually I just gave up all together.

The High Season: A Novel, is about doing whatever you have to do to have the life you want. It's about deception, downright lying, people who you think are your friends but aren't. The life of the rich, and those who want to be rich, and will do whatever they can to get where they want to be. Just too much fakeness for me to enjoy this book. I just found it boring.
