How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very handy reference book

This book is very handy for reference. For context I am not a UNIX or Linux System Administrator, I am a Peer Mentor in the NHS with a Masters in Intellectual History. I am learning, and to have a nice clear, cogent, readable explanation of the various command line programs for managing servers has helped me enormously with my Raspberry Pi and VM projects. I have a particular interest in operating systems and the human node machine interface and this book is lovely. Also the art is very cool, and it is throughout the book!

Honestly, I don't understand why people rate this book so high most of the time I go to it for help. It just doesn't have enough information on the subject. It's like a dictionary of terms for Linux essentially. It will tell you how to do most things but then if you wish to go into detail look elsewhere. There is enough there to point you in the right direction but I would not go and call this book a bible on Linux Admin.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best book ever

OK, so the subject of this book is administering Unix an Linux computers; granted a very important thing these days. But, far from being dry and prescriptive, it's written in a brilliantly human, passionate way that's entertaining and persuasive without being patronising. Glorious

Though a second-hand copy, the only thing I noticed was a bit of wear on the cover but the pages were all fine.

I'm currently doing a Linux Foundation SysAdmin course and this is a great volume for reference of things I'm learning and not learning. In a very easy-to-read style. It's dear but worth it.

Indispensable for any ops peeps. Most books are dry and boring. This you can pick up and actually read it. Plenty of examples, scenarios, etc... You will always learn something.
You open anywhere and dive it.
The most I've ever spent on a book and best money I've spent in career. Long time sys ops peeps swear by this as a bible.

I'd used Linux quite a bit, but was rusty. This gave me a trustworthy source when (as so often with linux) the Internet gives confusing and contradictory advice.
