To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I felt like I had to write this review because of some of the low star reviews. These washers are fine and everything about them is as they should be.
First of all, there are many people complaining that the washers are "thin" and will bend. The thickness of these washers is industry standard for stainless. ALL stainless washers are thinner than normal steel washers, regardless of what size or brand you get. Don't ask me why, it just is what it is. I have worked with stainless hardware for over 20 years, it's always this "thin". Grade 8 or grade 5 washers are thicker, but that is a completely different alloy and application. A great solution (which I did) is to simply double them up.
There was another bad review saying these washers AREN'T stainless. That is not true with my batch. I took a rare earth magnet to these washers and there was no magnetic response with these washers. Rare earth. No magnetism. These washers are fine. The color is even legit stainless, again, like I said I've been working with stainless hardware for over 20 years in the trades.
I purchased stainless steel washers because I knew that they would be used in a wet environment. Unfortunately these supposedly stainless steel washers Rust! It's only been a month and they are rusting quite a bit. Feeling ripped off.
These are so useful in the arsenal of hardware for the handyman. They are thin so that they don't take up a lot of room on a short screw. Stainless steel is always my first choice for any hardware. The large bearing surface puts pressure over a wider area and fills in any oversized holes or gaps. I used these right off to hold lattice on a pair of gates. You have to make oversized holes so that the lattice can expand when it gets hot. And, boy does it. So you use these to give a large bearing surface to keep the lattice in place.
I have been looking for such washers for ever. Never knew the name "fender washer" What i like is the very small inner hole ( the smallest i could find). So i can drill the hole bigger according to the bolts ( whenever needed) , so i have washers for quite very big range of bolts of different thicknesses!
