I don’t have dandruff, but I do have psoriasis. It’s largely controlled with UV therapy and BHAs, but I somehow wind up getting a bit on my scalp, and every week or so I feel the itching starting to come on. This is easily treated with one of the drugstore psoriasis shampoos...but the problem is they are super super harsh, and make my waist length hair feel like straw.
Not this. I’ve been using Oribe and Kerastase exclusively for years, and this shampoo does the job while miraculously keeping my hair in shampoo-commercial condition. With 3% salicylic acid and a veritable cornucopia of hair strengthening ingredients, it’s massively effective while still managing to feel indulgent and luxurious. It works for psoriasis. It would definitely work for dandruff, atopic dermatitis, and eczema as well.
Just be aware that if you are sensitive to fragrance, this product is infused with Oribe’s signature (incredible) Cote d’Azur Scent by the boatload. I adore it, but those with skin and scalp that react badly to fragrance may not.
One star off for the price. Oribe is beyond quality and I’ve been a huge fan for years, but I cringe every time I hit “purchase” with any of their products.
Smells amazing, however it doesn't work as well as Philip B's anti-flake II which doesn't smell great. I will continue to use on alternate days or in conjunction. ORIBE products have incredible ingredients and I've been using them for a long time.
I wish there were a way to verify that we were purchasing items from the manufacturer. I hear so much about the smell (which is just okay), and how little of the product you need to use. That hasn't been my experience. I have to use a lot of it. In all fairness, though, it is clearing up the itching from the seborrheac dermatitis that I have.
This shampoo definitely makes my hair and scalp feel really clean. Only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because of the price. The scent is also very mild but pleasant. Reminds me of a sweet honey dew or a very light melon scent.
It works so so for dry scalp and smells far better than most dandruff shampoos but sadly it does cause hair breakage much like other dandruff shampoos probably from active ingredient. Way too much money for a product of this caliber.
I realize some may look at the price and either move on quickly or expect some instant miracle. If you have a simple case of dandruff, the results will seem immediate but the product over priced. I was one of those unlucky souls that suffered from "cradle cap" as an infant and during certain seasons our times in my life--it's like my skull decides to go back to the past. Ugh. Embarressing and itchy! Your basic chain store products work but for a day! This was a wonderful product that seems to get to the real core of the problem. After a few shampoos I noticed a huge difference! I think it was around the 5th wash that I noticed that it was, basically, curing the dandruff!!!! I couldn't be happier! Plus, it's in a bottle that you don't have to hide under your sink or put it in a linen closet when company comes, as it doesn't have DANDRUFF written in bold print. It's the cutest pink bottle with small writing. This would work for men or women, from young (older children/teens) to the elderly. I'm not sure if I would gift this to someone as it may be insulting unless it's one if your family members that suffers from a horrid case. I hope my review helps and that you find relief.
For months now, I've had a small patch on my scalp that itches terribly; I've tried so many different products and remedies, but nothing has touched it. This shampoo actually does help - it takes the edge off, and I've found that the more consistently that I use it, the more it even keeps it from itching entirely.
I almost wish that wasn't the case, though, because this is ridiculously expensive. The exorbitant cost is the reason that I haven't ever tried anything from this brand before, even though the reviews for myriad products are so good. In this case, we're talking about a pretty small bottle of shampoo that is almost $50, which is . . . . insane, in my estimation.
In the pro column, though, is the fact that the packaging is pretty (for what that's worth). The scent may be an issue for some people. From what I understand, it is the line's signature perfumey scent. It's not super strong, but it is distinctive. It's not a bad smell, per se, but to me, it *almost* verges on being unpleasant. That said, since I've gotten used to it, it doesn't bother me, and again, it's not overly strong.
So, in my experience, this shampoo is far more effective than I expected it to be (hence the four stars). However, the price is a huge drawback, at least to me.
The first thing I noticed about this shampoo was its amazing scent. It's a little bit floral perfume but I really like it and I don't tend to like that kind of smell. I have eczema and have to use a dandruff control shampoo once or twice a week just to keep the eczema in check. It helps not only in my hair but behind my ears and on my neck as well. This this has done a good job as I've used it a couple times now.
It does not have some of the typical harsher ingredients he find in dandruff shampoos, or in shampoo in general and that is appreciated. It is more gentle on my highlighted and lowlighted hair and anything that can help extend the blonde from fading makes me happy. I have also noticed that this tends to be a bit more moisturizing or just more gentle in general than other typical dandruff shampoos. Because of the name it is definitely on the higher end but this should also last quite a while as you don't need a handful to get results.
There is a lot to like about this product. It has a pretty bottle, the scent is very mild and it seems to keep any dandruff under control. What doesn't work for me is the price. I have used plenty of shampoos over the years and none of them were this expensive. It does leave my hair soft and clean and I only have to use it every few days to control mild dandruff, so maybe with that regimen it's not so bad. I will admit, this anti-dandruff shampoo does not leave my scalp itchy like some do. I guess that's a sign of the quality.
This is a good shampoo with a moderate fragrance that is hard to identify even as floral vs. fruity. It cleans the hair and scalp well and rinses easily enough. It contains 2% salicylic acid to help remove but not prevent dandruff but it helps to leave it on a while to give it time to work.
The list of ingredients is rather lengthy and I suspect that some are included in such minute amounts that they serve no functional purpose. I was also shocked by the price even as compared to other fancy salon shampoos, especially considering that the press-top bottle holds just 8.5 fl. oz.
