To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
mechanically the unit is great.... i encountered several problem though.. running on win 7 ultimate their visualizer program would consistently crash after a few hours of running.. the only image output format is jpeg.. the device only support twain output which is an outdated image sharing connection it has been replaced by WIA, look it up on Adobe website.. bottom line you can not connect it's output to a Photoshop program because unless you are running a 32 bit old version it is incompatible with newer version and 64 bit OS. Bottom line no Photoshop.. the image quality initially looks great, but on further examination it lacks clarity, perhaps a 16 mg camera would help. the illumination light is a joke.. use a candle instead.. great idea, wonderful mechanical implementation but to me needs work on the support, WIA, perhaps an ability to produce linked PDF image sequences... perhaps these will be available on the next version. these problems were so great i returned the device.. also found out later one could buy it for about $35 dollars less directly from them... but i will wait for the next version to come out...
I'm a teacher who wanted to use this document camera to show what I was doing on a small white board to students during on-line distance learning. The camera was easy to set up and adjust. It was a 45-minute chore to register online as I had bought the camera refurbished on Amazon and it was already registered to someone else. I had to furnish proof of purchase, model, and serial number to a testy IPEVO representative at a call center in India, before I was allowed to register. The model numbers and serial numbers on the camera are extremely small and impossible to read without a magnifying glass. Unfortunately, once I had downloaded the software and got the camera running, there was small lag between my movements under the camera and when they appeared on screen. You start writing and it takes a split second for the movement to show up on screen. The camera wasn't usable to broadcast in real time. I returned the IPEVO camera and purchased the Lumens Ladybug DC120 on Amazon. I'm very happy with it and there was no lag.
Our school purchased this in August; now it's March. The micro USB plug had become a bit wobbly about two months ago, and the connection was cutting out occasionally. Then a few days ago the female plug came loose and dropped into the inside of the tower. I could use the HDMI plug, but the only way to supply power is through the micro USB. I contacted customer support in CA and am waiting for a reply. I wonder if anyone else has had a similar issue. This seems to be weakness in the design.
I purchased this document camera to use for teaching both live classes and recording lectures to post online. It is fairly intuitive to use.
But one major problem is that the camera mutes itself while I am using it. Pretty often, maybe very 10 minutes or so. I reached out for help and they wanted to to update the firmware and download their visualizer software. I updated the firmware and it made no difference, and I don't know why they would ship a new camera with outdated firmware anyway. This is a huge annoyance and I expect better, particularly at this price point and with these reviews.
Their visualizer software is also basically buggy garbage, I would not waste your time. It defaults to the webcam and when I selected the document camera is crashed and now crashes every time you open it For all I know it is just a ruse to let it infect my computer. I also am very disappointed that it does not zoom smoothly and just has a couple of presets. The autofocus is also not awesome, but passable. The picture quality is decent, but not amazing.
the first one was evidently one that had been returned, cord would not stay hooked up and continued to fall out. the parts were missing and not all included. after we sent it back we found out what was missing when we reordered and it was a totally different story. It works totally different and better.
While the company show you a picture of a computer with the display on the computer screen, it is not so easy. Apparently, you need to download some sort of software (Visualizer). The thing comes with no instruction manuals and no care. One star is about right.
I bought this camera January 2020, and in October 2020 it no longer works. VERY disappointed for the price. The camera now makes a clicking noise when you try and turn it on, but no picture ever shows even after replacing multiple cables and trying several TVs and computers.
