I have a number of different smart hime devices..plugs..heating..bulbs and wanted to get something for garden lights and for that use this great..the housing is solid and no way you can miss it while gardening..and for the price (£19 during the sale) its worth the money..although beware anything other than your standard three pin plug (xmas lights etc) it is not worth buying as the housing wont close so you left with an exposed plug. I was worried about the connection as i have had issues with osram bulbs on the backwall staying connected to my Echo Plus in the kitchen but i have this set about 10-12m away and never had an issue although i did have to have it much closer to set up.. Set up was pretty easy through the Alexa App. The spike was a little vicious and did manage to cut my finger installing it. I would have liked to see a wall mounting option as well as the spike to keep the wire etc out of the way of kids and mowers. The main draw back is the length of the cable its too short in my mind which limits its use.. luckily my lights have a long wire but if they didnt i would have had to use another extension cable..perhaps a 3m cable would suffice for most uses and allow for wall mounting too.
Add a Longer cable..wall mounting option for £19 its 5 stars.. had i bought it at full price I probably would have sent it back as it didnt totally fit my needs.
This is a great looking bit of kit; plus it's well made and very solid. On the downside however it's a pity it doesn't work easily with Google home. It was a right faff and was going to cost at least another 50 quid in add ons to get working ... sadly I bundled it back up and got a refund. I think its incompatibility probably explains it very low price. I would happily pay more for it if only it actually worked :(
Good value, fantastic product (when it works) and integrates fairly easily with Hue. But, the range is awful (the distance it needs to be from another zigbee device) - any more than 2 metres and it suffers from frequent drop outs. Given that it's designed for the garden, away from all the house bulbs, this feels like a fatal flaw. My outdoor socket now has to live indoors, in the garage, and one end of an extension cable
This would be a great product if you didn't have to spend another £46 on a hub so it can be used with Alexa. My advert said works with your echo dot no mention of a hub. Disappointed. Returned. Refunded.
3.0 out of 5 starsWorks with Hue & Alexa. Rubbish instructions, solid construction, would like a higher IP rating

Firstly the instruction are carp; just over-simplified pictorial diagrams. Two connection methods are illustrated, one method uses an Osram device called a
, the other method does not; both require a Smartphone running Osram's partner app.
I don't have a gateway (a pug-in device) so I opted for the easier way, downloaded the app and was immediately asked for details of my gateway and therefore I gave up.
Anyway! I'm fortunate to have a Hue bridge with the Hue app on my phone; it found the plug straightaway (called On/Off plug 1) and I was able to switch it on and off (hurrah) via the app.
Next I asked Alexa to find the plug but it could not. Using a browser I asked Alexa to discover devices and pressed the large button on the bridge, this time Alexa discovered On/Off plug 1 but that's rather a mouthful ... "Alexa On/Off plug 1 on", so I overcame this by setting up a new group called garden and added On/Off plug 1 to that group ... I can now say "Alexa garden on", which works perfectly and is easy to say!
With regard to the hardware, it's rather chunky but very well made. It seems to be designed to use only the include spike to push down into soil or grass, I'd prefer it wall mounted and it looks like I can remove the spike and just use the fixing bracket to screw it to a wall (more use due to the short 1.5 metre cable) However, this is rated at IP44 which whilst suitable for light rain I'm not convinced that it would enjoy a heavy British downpour, so if I do fix it to a wall it will be in a sheltered spot (underneath a window ledge) to avoid water ingress. It's a pity it's not IP65 rated (have a search).
Oh! If you do have a question (due to the rubbish instructions) don't bother with Osram's UK technical support; I asked a question about a smart LED wall light and one month on ... no reply!
Overall this is a useful product for those with an existing smart-home setup but the cable's too short, the fixing is dubious, I would like a higher IP rating and helpful instructions.
3.0 out of 5 starsWell made product but with, for me at any rate, a couple of shortcomings

I was a bit surprised at the size of this unit, I expected something a little smaller. However, it is well made and works well. I already have outdoor lighting but I wanted this to isolate the garden lights for when the waterfall is running during the day. I think the length of cable should have been rather more generous as 1.5 metres doesn't give you much scope when getting power from the house. Also, the plug is moulded onto the cable so making it rather difficult to make any sort of permanent connection.
This is a great idea, but the cable is really too short and with an IP44 rating and the plug with only an IP20 rating, you have to be careful with water ingress. It can be operated manually but linked easily with my Philips Hue hub. The instructions are poor, however, so it helps if you already have experience. My conclusions are that this is not bad, but there will be better available.
