Buyer beware on this one, it has limitations. If you want to use this from a PC then forget it. If you are using a D-Link DNR-202L recorder then I do not think it is supported. The DCS-8000LH/8010LH/8300LH/8525LH cameras do not have a web UI therefore they cannot be accessed on the network to adjust settings. You also cannot see the camera on the browser based mydlink website either. You can only view the images on a phone or tablet.
I purchased this as a natural progression up from the DCS-5030L thinking it would be a quality boost at 1080p resolution. While the picture quality seems good this is a very limited unit. I can't record to my DNR, I can't log into the unit to tweak things or watch my home.
There are other pan/tilt cams that cost less, and also include a zoom feature. I don't really care about the cost, or the features, but when they say that the cam is ifttt enabled, or works with Google home, I'd expect to have more or better features already set up. My main issue is that the only thing that the camera can do with google home, is enable the camera if it is already off. I wanted to set up a routine to turn the camera and motion detection off when I come home, but that feature is not available. Again, I repeat because it's so stupid that they advertise that it works with google home, but you can ONLY TURN THE CAMERA ON from google home. Being that the camera also can set 4 preset camera views, I'd expect to be able to have the camera auto pan/tilt, or to at least go to one of the 4 presets via google home. Nope, you have to enter their klunky app to go in and turn it on or off. I tried to set up a schedule to turn the camera on, and motion detection on/ camera off and motion detection off. The scheduling feature is very difficult to read whether or not it is actually working. I did have to get a replacement because when I decided I wanted to switch from the free cloud account to recording to the sd card I had inserted, the camera would not select the sd card. I contacted D-Link outside of the 30 day return window, and when they told me they would be able to offer a replacement, I asked if they could just provide me with my money back instead, because this camera is not at all what I had expected. My last gripe about this camera is that you can only use a mobile device/tablet to connect/configure the device. What if I'm at work, a location that I'm not supposed to be using my personal devices, and I wanted to check on what is happening at home. Well, I wouldn't be able to login to view the camera from my computer, because they did not design the camera for computer use, only mobile device use. I always avoided D-Link products in the past because of subpar features/hardware/software. I thought that I'd listen to the raving reviews about this camera. Never again. I would suggest looking elsewhere for a home security camera.
Update: On my second camera. I waited a long period of time before I hooked up the second one. I'm still having the same issues. I can't get the video to save to the sd card. Instead, only the cloud recording option works. I don't want my video saved to the cloud, so it is not doing what I purchased it to do. Stay away from this camera. It doesn't do what it is advertised to do.
Both my Galaxy S8 and Windows 10 PC, could not find this camera per D-Link instructions. MyDLink app could not find this camera. The manual choices did NOT include this camera. D-Link support was utterly useless. D-Link support suggestions always included directions that I had tried prior to writing. In my written comments I stated that I had already followed D-Link support suggestions that D-Link support wanted me to try!!! D-Link support is evidently incapable of understanding third grade written English. Over the years, I have purchased many D-Link cameras that have worked well. Unfortunately this camera is totally useless. The QR code is NOT recognized!! Complete waste of my time over three days. No mention of any IP address to login into the camera. Just expects the WiFi net to appear automatically for the phone; DOES NOT HAPPEN!!! Useless crap!!!!!
