Causes Macbook Air crashes and severe USB 3.0 interference
Reviewed in Australia on 10 March 2021
I used this for months while working from home thinking there was an issue with my home setup. I used this device for both my Windows work laptop and my university Macbook Air 2020. I have a USB headset, USB keyboard and mouse, USB C charger and HDMI port. Things worked fine generally, but there is severe USB3.0 interference that causes a wireless keyboard and mouse to be impossible to use. Frequently stops the mouse and keyboard from working. I did research and Intel's USB 3.0 technology causes this, but this device has no shielding to stop it.
Secondly, most importantly, this device causes Macbook crashes when it's plugged in and goes to sleep. I tried for months to fix it thinking that it was my macbook and even had the USB C port repaired by Apple. I contacted "Wellmade Brands" when I finally isolated the device as the problem child and was told "this device is not compatible with a macbook in sleep mode". Yeah, not advertised - this breaks the company's Australian Consumer Law obligations that a reasonable consumer would expect the device to function as it describes - charging and data transfer via USB C. Anyway, I returned this and got a HooToo and it works great.
