Died without warning after 1600 hours. About a year and a half of regular use. The original bulb lasted over 6000. We ran it on eco mode about 50% of the time. Didn't really notice any difference in picture quality or brightness from the original manufacturer bulb when we first installed it. Was hoping it would last longer for $90 but you win some and lose some. Probably going to try a different brand next time but wouldn't hold it against you if you wanted to try your luck with this one.
Started off great. All is well. Then after a month. It started making weird beeping/electronic noises randomly. Then one day the fan started going full blast. Non stop. No matter what mode I was in. I did some digging and found people with the exact same issue. The culprit was the bulb. Bought an OEM Epson bulb. Problem solved. Spend the extra $20 and get the factory bulb folks
This is the 3rd light I have had to buy because we use our projector like a TV - every day for multiple hours a day. The first two lights I bought the $29.00 version and they last about 8 to 10 months so I decided to buy this which was advertised as OE replacement and the cost was $89.00. Well, guess what, 8 months and it too has gone out, so I bought another cheap one and bought a free 3-year replacement warranty for $4.99 - DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DO THIS!! The product works well and is bright, but do not pay $89 and expect it to last any longer than the less expensive version or be any brighter
The good news: It does in fact make a nice looking picture come out of my projector. The bad news: It makes a very annoying high pitched beeping sound every few seconds. Takes a bit longer to warm up.
I went ahead and bought the official epson replacement from their website. Granted does cost $250, but it works perfectly and doesn't make the high pitched beeping that was driving me crazy on this one. Given that my old lamp lasted a bit over five years, it feels worth it to me to just get the real one.
The quality was much better in the beginning, ut colors weren't as bright and images not as clear after 7 months. I purchased this February 27, 2020 and it just burned out today 05/12/2021. $96 for 14 months isn't a good investment when the original lasted for 5 years.
This lamp fit easily and worked great for a while. After less than a year, it went out and I got an error message saying the bulb is bad and needs to be replaced. The description says to buy this because it will last so much longer than the cheaper ones, but the original lasted me about 6 years, so 10 months isn't a really great lifespan.
As others have said, this lamp makes an annoying beeping noise. Contacted seller and I was told to turn on the projector’s high-altitude mode. I suspect that advice was designed to drown out the beeping with fan noise. Returned and purchased an authentic ELPLP49 lamp from Epson’s Web site.
