The material from which the suction cup is made is too hard to allow for a good grip. It will hold somewhat and allow you to at least start the bulb turning but it does not hold well throughout the operation. Not at all an adequate replacement for the original that I melted on a hot halogen bulb. Until I destroyed it, that one worked the way that I expected that this one would.
ONE OTHER THING: When It arrived, the suction cup was folded over in the packaging. I don't know whether or not this contributed to the issues above, but I think not. It does make more work when attaching to the bulb because it has held the new shape which is cupped in too much. -mgp
I needed something to remove 2 led bulbs from our range hood. Those bulbs are frosted and this gizmo/light bulb changer will NOT work on frosted bulbs. I wish the description has stated that important fact; it would have saved me the hassle of returning a product of no usefulness to me.
It does adhere to non-frosted bulbs but that doesn't help me and my situation. However, I can't say it has strong enough suction to turn the bulb as it had zero suction on the bulbs I needed removed.
This thing is even worse than it looks, plus amazon made me return it from the downtown service center instead of at the local UPS store. It was a total pain in the behind, but I wasn't going to pay 5 dollars to return this item worth 5 cents.
The diameter of the suction cup was too small, and it did not provide enough suction to grip the halogen bulb so I could turn it. When I tried to turn it, the tool just rotated on the surface of the bulb without gripping it.
This little gadget is hardly a inch and half. I was sorely disappointed for the price. My husband was able to use it to screw the bulb in, but not on the first several trys Matter of fact, it came a loose and the bulb fell on the stove and shivered.
I expected strong suction and a rigid handle for pushing and twisting light bulbs. What is delivered is a flimsy all rubber gadget with little strength or rigidity. I've had more success with suction cup picture hangar.
