Top critical review
2.0 out of 5 starsMultiple devices dropped wifi
Reviewed in Australia on 12 November 2019
Reluctant to write review as support tried to help, but...
I got not 1 but *2* of these things and both of them would consistently drop the wifi connection entirely. Not just drop it, the wifi chip 'turned itself off' for lack of a better term (the SSID simply disapeared) and rebooted. Took upwards of 2 minutes to come back as an available network.
I don't know what the cause was, but I tried different power, different cables, I tried different firmware, nothing seemed to fix this issue, this wasn't sharing wifi or vpn or ethernet, this was just the device 'sitting there' waiting to be configured
People report drop outs on the GL.Inet forums for this model. Others report it's fine
The specs of the device are fantastic. The few times I did get it working briefly, yeah the VPN performance was superior than the Mango 300 model (reason why I upgraded)
Also the Mango never dropped connection once, it was fine, a bit slow for my needs but fine.
The price is good, feature list is good, if you get one which doesn't drop wifi, excellent but for me, I think I will wait for V3 of the device I guess, I don't have time to mess around, I just want it to work (again, the Mango model did exactly what I wanted without issue and was easy to setup)
Thank god I got this on Amazon and not eBay, returns are much easier with Amazon.
