The battery operation portion works fine and sound is acceptable for this size unit. HOWEVER, the ac power portion is inoperable. I purchased the unit mainly for outside use without AC so I will keep it rather than go through the return hassle. It is very obvious that the company has a quality assurance problem...the unit should have bee thoroughly tested before being shipped.
This was fine until the volume button quit working. I've put in a claim for the protection plan we got. Will update my review if I get a new one that works better.
Update: Protection plan said it was still within the manufacturer's warranty, but I had difficulty contacting the manufacturer. That warranty is now expired, so once again will try the protection plan for assistance. Volume button continues to stop functioning with CDs and can't turn it up enough to hear.
Very cheap product to be carrying the "Jensen" name. Tuning knob is 'loose' feeling and makes finding and keeping a station somewhat difficult. Takes much moving/playing with the antenna to tune into a station as well. Buttons are hard to see/read, so not an item for anyone with 'older' eyes. Has a very 'tinny' sound. Not much bass to this at all. Very disappointed for price paid. Would not purchase again. Have decided to purchase something like this in the future at a store where I can either hear it before I buy it or can easily return it if its as poor a product in quality as this. Probably going to have to replace for my recipient as this is not the gift I expected it to be when bought/given.
I bought this in Sept 2016 and it was a good little stereo. I keep it on my dining room table to listen to music when cooking. The top of the CD opening stopped wanting to click close in less than 2 months of use. As a trucker, I'm rarely home so it was in a matter of around 7 days it stopped working. Tape fixed that issue. Now it is January and the speakers are starting to go. You definitely get what you pay for and I will be going with another brand when this stereo blows up entirely. For $50 you'd expect a tad bit better quality than this.
Great if you are looking for a radio, not so much if you want a CD player. So far it will play a Katy perry CD but won't play. Disney frozen, Disney princess, kids bop, now that's what I call music etc. Not what I paid for.
we have had this since the end of January and it is already having playback issues. We have to turn it off and on 4 or 5 times now to get anything to play. Im looking for a new one from a different brand Pronto. It has good sound and was easy for my 6 year old to use but after less than 6 months of use it is almost useless. If you want something for longer than 6 months, get something else
This was used in my daughter’s room, and it worked great at first just for playing music at night for about thirty minutes for her. Then one night it shorted, our electricity flickered, and then it wouldn’t read the discs. It would just say “NO” instead of a track number. Definitely not high quality!
