To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Bought this for my disabled daughter to use to replace an ancient iPod Classic and to get away from having to use iTunes. Initial set-up seemed to go fine. I put about 90GB of music on a MicroSD card and it finds it and seems to play fine. The button mapping and use is odd and takes some figuring out. BUT.
The player is stuck on shuffle mode and cannot be changed. The little booklet that comes with the player is minimal and does not address most of the functions. After extensive on-line searching I finally found a more comprehensive manual that showed all the functions, but still could not change the shuffle setting.
I e-mailed their tech support. They did get back to me after a FOUR days (tech support is SLOOOOOOW, probably one Chinese girl doing all of it). They told me to factory reset the device. I did. No change.
Then I realized that this was supposed to have a color screen! The only color that this screen shows is blue.
Unfortunately, for such an inexpensive device I had tossed the box it came in after the initial set-up. It wasn't until a week or so later that I got all the music off of iTunes and reformatted correctly that I realized the shuffle problem, and then later the screen color issue. I can't return it and am now looking for another mp3 player as the shuffle issue is a real problem. Next time I'll keep the dang box!
After that first contact with AGPTEK support, they have not responded to any of my messages. I tried them repeatedly via the contact e-mail on their website and via the Amazon listing. NO RESPONSE AT ALL.
So, if you buy one of these devices your only option is to check it over completely before you discard the box and within the return period. That's your only protection. You can't expect any customer support or warranty service.
Customer service finally got back to me. It appears they were closed for about 10 days for Chinese New Year! They directed me to a firmware update, which was incredibly difficult as half the instructions and file names were in Chinese. I finally managed to install the new firmware, but nothing changed.
Then they said to send the device to an address in Brooklyn with the original packaging and they would send a replacement. I can't do that as I already tossed the box.
So, as I said, beware.
I already replaced it with a Ruizi, which seems to work fine. I'll just toss this one and chalk it up to experience.
I bought this to use in my car but it will only play through 2 speakers when plugged in the usb port. I used a audio cable and still only 2 speakers. I have used other players and not had this problem. I added a couple of folders and it only showed one of them and every time it would start at the same place. It would be ok to use with headphones and that's about it
