I ordered Marantz SR7013 in January for my new place with 7.1 surround system. The unit is beautiful and has impressive features. The Audyssey microphone was great for setup, and the receiver was excellent at balancing my speakers and subwoofer for the room. The downsides: 1) video signal would become corrupted when going through the receiver - I would initially see dots on the screen, then sometimes the image would flicker incessantly. Changing HDMI cables did not remedy this. I have a blu-ray player which allows for separate channels for HDMI audio and 4k video out, so I chose to send audio only to the receiver and bypass receiver for the video signal to go straight to TV in order to remedy this; however, I had to remove the HDMI sync as otherwise the ARC feature on the TV would kill the audio signal as it was receiving pure video only. 2) Main downside - after approximately 1 week of light usage, the receiver failed to output any audio or video outputs, and would jam. I tried to factory reset the device and it did not fix the issue. I contacted Marantz customer support, and they will look into it under guarantee but I found myself having to pay > $200 CDN of shipping to send it to the repair shop for a brand new device barely used - definitely disappointing. I had to revert to 2008 model Marantz SR4002 which has been extremely reliable and good for what I am doing - except I don't have the Dolby Atmos, digital radio, and IMAX sound which I appreciated in the SR7013 while it worked for its approximately 1 week. If you can get a reliable one, this receiver is amazing - otherwise, I hope it won't be a faulty device that turns into a money-pit to try to repair it.
This is a very nice unit. Took me a little longer than I would have liked to get setup. I’m running a 7.1 setup and took several attempts to get the speakers wired the best way. I have the fronts bi-amped and there wasn’t really good instruction on how best to do it but finally got it figured out. Watching a football game with the calibrated setting sounds hollow so you’ll need to adjust for sports programming. Sound quality and picture quality from just standard blue ray is really nice. I’m running an Oppo 93 blue ray with an older Sony LCD 55” the Oppo has always made the picture on the TV better than it is and with the upscaling of this receiver improves it still. Can’t wait to update the TV and to a 4K player in the near future.
RETURNED same day as we received it😔 and we are bummed out because we tried to replace receiver with same receiver at and it was not available, so had no other choice than to return it😔😔..
Unboxed the receiver and set it up correctly (have 30 + years of experience with all kinds of electrical devices , 22 of them professional ).
The left rear connector for the surround sound is blown🧐 and sounds as if a small nest of bees wants to come out..
Also, The whole sound of the receiver was very dim.
We tried everything: brand new speaker wire and hdmi cables new surround sound rear speakers; swapped left rear speaker with the right and only right rear channel works correctly; checked connections a lot of times (all inserted correctly); hooked up speakers with shorter cable to receiver (to see if it was the length of the cables causing the problem) but left rear still not correctl; We kept trying over and over to get trough the end part where the receiver throws out the loud beeps to get the most of the sound in the living room and could not finish it because the left rear speaker was not loud enough (due to the blown connector) and we finally gave up after a couple of hours..
Marantz make some great products this one is no exception. This receiver was purchased to replace a Denon AVR 4520ci .I have purchased other receivers And return them because they didn’t sound as great as the Denon AVR 4520ci Which had been relegated to our bedroom and sounded fantastic. This Marantz receiver sounded almost as good but had more modern features that the Denon AVR 4520ci lacked. And most important feature that was needed On any unit ,was that it had to be easy to operation for my wife, because she was used to the Marantz av8805 in the family room. This Marantz AVR 7313 operated almost identical. Both these Marantz had one drawback that I did not like and that was the HEOS System on both these Marantz systems. I can’t say enough bad things about this crappy HEOS feature it limits the functionality of Pandora and Spotify. You have to use your phone or tablet to operate it properly....Other than that the Marantz AVR 7313 receiver sounded great. Otherwise I would have given it five stars.
Overall a great unit for a good price. Just a note: when I first set this up I was having all kinds of problems getting external devices (Apple TV, Blue-Ray, etc) to show up. It turns out you need to use only high speed HDMI cables. When I changed every cable it was magically fixed.
Awesome upgrade. Never had it so clear and integrated. It’s a bigger than my previous receiver but it pumps out the volume. The apps take a little While to figure out but all in all an excellent receiver and amp. Best I have ever owned and I have bought a lot.
