I bought 2 of these floats before a family houseboating trip on Lake Shasta. They take up more space in the car than a deflated floatie, but there are ties and a handle to make it compact and easy to carry. The floats have an inflatable insert for the pillow, and the rest of the float is made up of foam rods (like really skinny pool noodles) sewn into channels. They are comforable to float on, although you end up more submerged than with some other inflatable floats. (Which was fine with us, it helped us beat the heat.) Since the trip, we have been using the floats in our pool. I can see us using these for a few years, as opposed to fully inflatable floats that get holes in them and have to be repaired or thrown away. You could also use the floats to lie on the beach, but I can't see using them as a yoga mat (as one of the photos on the package shows) - that would be really bumpy and uncomfortable. The only downside I found was with the quality of the stitching. On the first use, the stitching came apart along a seam by the pillow. Once I got the floats home, I noticed that the other one had stitching coming apart along two of the channels. Both are repairable, but I don't like having to fix something so new.
Update: The replacement floatie Amazon sent me has done the same thing, fabric ripped in two places this time. Very disappointing. Will not buy again. I ended up calling Amazon customer service and received excellent, professional help from Nicole. She sent out a replacement floatie, it arrived in 2 days. I am very pleased with the customer service provided by Amazon and the makers of this floatie. (I really like this floatie, except for the fact that after barely a month of use the material has ripped. I want to return it but have no recourse. Not happy.)
This states it will hold 250 pounds and I'm sure it will, but you won't be floating at water level. I weigh 135 and I had some water on me. I do like the fact that the only area to be inflated is the headrest, so this should last some time. I would recommend larger noodles in the product so individuals can truly float. I will keep and use since it works okay for me.
The pillow is the only part you have to air up on this one. It doesn’t really hold enough air to keep your head up out of the water. I still love the handle and fact I can roll it up to store so the wind doesn’t blow it away.
I like this product and would recommend, simply b/c it is not, for the most part, inflatable (and therefore, easy to ruin through puncture). However, we did get a tear in it the first day, but that was due to children playing rough with it. For someone looking to buy a float for relaxing in the pool (while getting wet), I think this is a pretty good item.
Very comfy, but not super durable. After just one day floating around the lake, one of the seams by the pillow ripped all the way across. Hopefully the pillow will still stay in the pocket so we can keep using it.
We like this float for our pool and the price is great. We bought 2. One is still good a month later but the second’s head rest has already torn off- I will add that it was being jumped on by big kids at the time.
