Received the package quickly and install was pretty quick. Picture was up and viewable quickly. Then we took our first trip with it...When you get a picture it is good. There is just a little lag time when watching cars passing by but that would be ok. The issue is there is so much time it either looses the service so you have no picture or the picture freezes up for several seconds. I contacted the seller they just gave me manufacturer email to contact them. So to me customer service not as great as several reviewers made out. If you spend more time with black screen or frozen screen not as useful as we thought it would be.
I just found out the hard way that the display on this thing - even if turned off! - will draw roughly 300ma from you battery. How did I find out this was an issue? When my vehicle was dead after sitting for a few days with this thing plugged in and turned off. My battery was so drained that it was all the way down to 5v! (I tested it twice to confirm that I wasn't crazy.)
I think 2 stars is generous considering this, but aside from the parasitic power draw, I WAS satisfied with the performance.
The frame rate isn't enough that you get a seamless stream of video, but it's close enough to be useful. And it's certainly easier than going wired.
I will say that they have a second power button on the power adapter itself (the part that plugs into the 12v outlet) that actually cuts the power to the display, but who would think they have to turn off not only the device but then also the power cord? And why on Earth would this be necessary? It's mammoth design fail.
If, however, you heed this warning and remember to basically unplug the display every time you're done using it (use the lit power switch on the plug itself and not the power button on the device), then the rest of the operation is alright.
Customer support has been excellent. The screen has a really nice picture, however if you are a polarized sunglasses wearer you should know that when you are wearing the sunglasses, the screen goes black. It is because they installed the wrong polarizing filter as part of the screen. I'm not an expert at polarized filters, but it's easy enough to figure it out, since turning your head sideways makes the screen visible again. Otherwise, the camera and screen produce a really nice picture with pretty smooth motion. There is a small bit of lag sometimes and it is slightly jerky, but it is still completely usable.
Another thing- The buttons on the bottom-front of the monitor which look like brightness up/down do not control brightness. They control volume, which makes no sense since the camera does not include a microphone. The auto-dim feature did not work for me either. I had to go into settings and turn the brightness up or down manually.
I am about to return this camera kit and try another one. 7" screen is too big for my windshield.
So far very happy with this camera , the first one didn't want to power on so I sent it back and received a replacement within 2 days, easy to install, also supposed to receive a free 32gb memory card and a cigarette lighter adaptor for just asking and a 2nd camera just for requesting, however I am still waiting for them. Overall a happy owner, I would recommend. Finally got around to installing the 2nd camera and less picture quality as camera #1. I think they sent me a remanufactured one as it has a distorted view, so overall just a little disappointed with the 2nd camera. NOT happy with product, was offered a $35.00 refund, not accepting it, all I want is a camera that works.
The first unit I purchased failed on our first trip. Amazon replaced it without any problems. The second unit started up fine, looked great at first. After the first four hours it began having problems. The screen goes black or freezes. Sometimes turning the unit off and and on will fix it for awhile. The night vision has a halo around the periphery. Not sure what I want to do with this unit. Kind of frustrated right now.
And get what you pay for. Chinese garbage. Camera works great when it's right next to the monitor when I went to hook it up on the back of my RV if the antenna is not over the roof it won't maintain the signal to the monitor. It's going back. I guess I have to get the furrion. Also the mount doesn't fit in the pre-wired RV furrion Mount. The pictures above say comes with the mount but I had to buy one separately so there was nothing in the box .
I wouldn't buy this camera setup again! I need an extra camera which has been out of stock for months and the company will not respond! Also had to put a remote antenna on it with a 20 ft extension cable to stop it from constantly freezing going down the road. Complete junk but picture quality is very good.
Product states 120 foot range, then as you read on states 60 foot from camera to monitor and at highway speed it will cut out, well I’m about 53 foot from camera to monitor and over 35mph it cuts out constantly.
False advertisement. In the description, it had night vision with a color image. I take that it’s color at night. But it’s not. It goes Back and forth from black and white to color, depending on how much light. Very annoying. Didn’t see anything in the menu to make it color always.
Was easy to hook up. Worked the first time time paring the signal. I will know more when we travel in a couple of weeks how it performs. Got the second camera and the windshield mount. Cameras work well but I wish the antenna signal was a bit stronger. For a long trailer you may have to use the antenna extension. I would buy again. Have had problems with signal strength. Camera will drop out going down the road. I need reliability this is unreliable. Company has not stepped up to help remedy this problem yet
