To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Me: graphic designer, digital / web, no video, no photo, no special color/profiles activity. Mac Book Pro, tried both USB C and DP I'm sure I did not get a lemon. It's just what this monitor is - I'd not say garbage, but def not worth even half of its price, it's not a designer monitor - great for general use as 32 at 2K (200% scaling on Win) size-wise corresponds to full HD for 22-24 monitors, very convenient and great picture.
Cons 1. Greenish tint in whites and light grays on the left 1/3d of the screen - see other reviews and vids and a bit on the other side. 2. After messing with it for 2 days I still could not find neither black blacks no descent consistent grays, panels is overly just too bright beyond settings. 3. If you don't apply their 'calibration whatever' in settings - good luck getting any color consistency in light shades 4. Terrible variations of whites when looking from very sharp angles - not that it matters - I've never seen it that bad. It seems like the monitor stand it bending panel in the center 5. The panel itself is not black it's got this greenish ting to it - even when turned off completely - guess where greenish stuff is coming from 5. Absolutely weird over-saturation - especially in reds - they've got controls for it in settings - but why????? 6. Cheap blueish luminescent backlight like early early models 7. Display settings menu and fonts are supper tiny.... why??? 8. Big bulky sort of fancy packaging
Pros 1. UCB C is awesome with mac, charging it etc. + other up to date connectivity 2. Slick design, some cables included.
I got burnt heavily with Dell XPS 15 horrible laptop - my worst buy ever, now after this - Dell is not a brand to consider.
Thanks to Amazon for prompt delivery, and piece of mind with return options.
Pros: Bulid quality Color calibration HDR Very thin bezels Zero dead pixels
Bad: The monitor has a massive light bleed. All dark scenes look yellowish - what happened with QC Dell? No built-in speakers Poor packaging - box came with a big hole on one side, few corners looked like the box was dropped (probably UPS's fault) All previous monitors bought from Amazon came double boxed, even much larger Dell U3818DW - please fix this Amazon!
I have a replacement coming in 2 days so the score may change.
I really want to like this monitor. The thin bezel design looks great, and the built in USB-C KVM functionality is perfect for my needs and works well. Feature-wise, there's nothing else that quite compares. It's a great value compared to getting a standalone KVM since I can't even find a combination USB-C/DisplayPort KVM.
Before I bought it, I was really concerned about the reviews on Amazon and elsewhere complaining about the backlight and local dimming problems. I decided I needed to see it for myself to decide. The backlight issues are noticeable, if you are looking for them by looking at all black scenes. There are clear inconsistencies in brightness. But this is not typical usage for me. On a screen full of text or photos, it is not noticeable to me.
Then I noticed the dead pixels. First one, then another. There were several that I found and they are distracting. I decided to send it back and get a replacement. The good news is Amazon quickly shipped a replacement and picked up the first one.
The second one arrive in a battered box. The base of the stand had broken free of its packaging and had a large dent in it. I then tested the display itself and half of the backlight did not turn on. #2 was headed back to Amazon too. Time for #3.
Monitor number three arrived and the box was in good shape, which was promising, and everything had stayed in place in the box. I turned it on and spotted a dead pixel right in the middle of the screen. And then I saw another.
Now I'm debating whether to try my luck at #4 or give up. I really want like this monitor, but dead pixels are noticeable and distracting and highly disappointing for a brand new monitor.
