To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Love this pillow!! Super comfy. Folds up quite small. It's really pretty. (Solar system pattern). But... The straps are terrible!! If you were to attempt to strap it to the head rest, it would be much too high. AND, the straps get in the way of its comfort.
This would be a 5-star rating if it didn't have the straps.
pillow is not rigid enough to keep my neck from flopping over a bit. this is even when i have it tightened all the way with the strings. and once it’s that tight then it gets a bit warm and uncomfortable.
On my first flight, the drawstring broke within the first hour. That was kind of disappointing. Also, I'm not so sure how the drawstring is supposed to work because I was guessing that you would attach the two ends of it while you are sleeping to keep the pillow ends closer together... but that seems like a liability issue waiting to happen. When you close it, it's right at your throat and it seems like any quick jerk forward could cause the neck pillow/draw strings to choke you. I was too self-conscious to use it because I thought others would think I was crazy to have my neck pillow that close to choking me. The memory foam sides are great though and super soft. Also, attaching it to the back headrest is such a great idea! However, I don't know if it was too big for me, but I felt claustrophobic the whole time using it, and had to put the pillow away after a few hours because I felt so constricted. I think I would've liked it if it didn't have that extra hump on it, which made it a little too tall for me. Overall it was just way more of a hassle for me than it was helpful for me. Also, with the airlines these days, you can invert the headrests in on each side to keep your head in place, so i'll just stick to that. Definitely not for me, but could be for people who don't mind the issues I had.
I had the same experience as the previous reviewer. The pillow itself seems excellent, with upgraded materials and a sturdier feel from the prior version. I especially like the cooling fabric, as I find my old pillow to be hot on long flights. I'm excited to try this on a long-haul.
Same as the other reviewer (I'm #2!) the zipper on the bag broke off on the first try. I'm going to request a replacement and will update my rating if the quality of that bag's construction is better. 2 for 2 is a rough start...
This is a comfortable neck pillow, but I found it hard to use on the airplane. It promises to attach to any chair/seat, but it didn't work on either of the flights I took recently. There was no separate headrest on one of the planes, which made it impossible to wrap the bands around the entire seat. On the second flight, the headrest wasn't adjustable, so the neck pillow suffocated my face and I couldn't use it. Again, if I had been able to wrap the bands around the entire back of my seat, it might have worked, but it was impossible.
On the plus side, there was an empty row in front of me and I was able to use the neck pillow just like a plain pillow to lie down.
First, I'm about 5'9" with an average neck size (length and width). My wife has a much older version of this one which allows you to spin the pillow to position it under your chin for chin support. The new one is lacking in a few areas. 1) The straps to pull the pillow tight to your neck in front don't allow you to have ample chin support. 2) It does ride up very high on your cheeks and can be a problem with some headphones. I have a pair of Bose and if you move, it affects the headphones. I was able to (mostly) comfortably where the headphones but I needed to re-position the pillow frequently. 3) It does get a bit warm which can be a good thing on those cold flights but a big negative on the flights that run warm.
I should say I used this for over 10,000 miles already (Hawaii to Israel). I will be looking for a pillow with better chin support and one that isn't so warm. But, this is still a very good choice for many. I will keep it as a back-up.
