I bought this specifically for a bike packing trip and used one as a base for my tent for 3 days camping in freezing cold temps and rain. It served well to keep the ground water from seeping onto the tent and kept me warmer inside the tent than without any ground cover. The extremely thin Mylar was durable enough to last 3 nights AND be folded up with my tent but finally ripped the last night. If I were to go out again, I would bring 2, one for ground cover and the other to wrap around myself. The temps dropped colder than I anticipated one night and I would’ve been warm using one as an actual blanket!
These things kick a$$ for the money. Used them to wrap coolers while camping to conserve ice and a 20lb block still had 10lbs of ice left after 4 days! Hope I never need them to stay warm but if I do I trust theyll be up to the task
I’ve seen a lot of different companies and sellers on Amazon selling emergency Mylar blankets and they were either more expensive or lesser in quality. For the price you get four blankets all in their own pouches; I’ve recently started putting together a bug out bag and this is a great addition for the utility you can get out of four good quality blankets. Was also cool half of the sale went to charity!
I have not used them yet but took them out and they look well made and I love the pouch they come in. They look much better than the cheap silver emergency blankets I have in my emergency pack and I will be swapping them for these.
In a power outage I used this to wrap my Refrigerator/Freezer it did and incredible job in keeping it cold more than 15hr. Until power came back on. It held up and was able to be refolded for later use
I bought some of these blankets mainly because I loved the name. I mean the point is to not die in the woods, and I was headed out on my first back-country hike and was hoping not to die. Well nobody died, but we did use the blankets. Here's how: - Blanket for downed hiker to lie ON - Shade for downed hiker to lie UNDER - it was still hot at this point - Pillow for other hikers waiting for helicopter - Noisy and scary for the mountain goats who were getting kinda close (they like human pee?!) - Reflective so the helicopter could spot us from above ( you may want to consider a beacon of some sort too) - The little pouch the blanket comes in was a constant reminder not to die (and a good place to store treats) - We escaped the back country 20 hours later, and minus one hiker but thank goodness for these blankets!
I liked the fact that there was different colors and along with that the emergency blanket is of good quality. For the price everyone should have these emergency blankets scattered around their home and vehicles just in case! I would recommend this product to all!
