I originally bought this for DC current measurement on home electronics projects. These are relatively low current circuits which when measured on this meter do not measure accurately enough. When measuring a steady 200mA 12v DC supply to a circuit, this meter was measuring between 200 & 330mA even when using the "zero" button on the meter. On higher current circuits, for example, 12v 5amp the meter was reading 5.1amps so still out by about 100mA but at this current, this is not as important. I compared this to the supply and an inline meter which were both within about 1-2mA. So would I buy or recommend this meter, well no I wouldn't buy it because it is not accurate enough for my uses, it may be suitable for higher current applications. It would be useful if someone with a better quality clamp meter could do a comparison. Note I also tested the DC voltage via the cables and temperature via the included probe, both appeared to be accurate.
I'm primarily using this on a 24v trolling motor project/ solar charging, mostly for the current reading capability. Personally I have found it fairly consistent and accurate - yes you do need to reset each time you take a reading but it's consistent with other device's readings. Fairly clear (if not a bit small) instructions, nice build quality too. Top tip: for current you only measure either +ve or - ve. Slightly counter intuitive if you're of a mechanical bent !
This model' clip-on device measures DC current as well as AC. You can find similar looking models of the same make much cheaper, but they only measure AC current - not much use if you want to know how your car battery and charging system are working. It seems safe to use and solidly built; the probes are excellent. I cannot comment on the accuracy, because I only have an old home-built mechanical meter to compare it with, but it seems quite good as far as I can tell. I have not tried capacitance or resistance measurement yet.
Very disappointed. To track problems with earth leakage it's essential to be able to measure leakage currents from 1-30mA. I wasted a lot of time trying to fault-find my installation but when I checked what it was showing against a real milli-ammeter in series with the clamped cable I could not get any reading below 10mA and at a true 20mA it jumped to display 11mA. Too late to to return for a refund but hardly worth keeping.
works well and accurate but compared to my expensive fluke meter its slow to display readings, but once i understood there was a delay i got the the hang of things and i am happy to use this as a backup meter
Compact handheld gadget delivered upon expectations, only slight criticism is that you must keep the clamp fully connected to give an accurate reading as even the tiniest gap cap throw you of guard but apart from that it’s great thanks again
