Top critical review
1.0 out of 5 starsCan’t Use!! Won’t format this drive and it’s LOUD

I must withdraw my previous review.
First, I must say that delivery was very fast, and I am happy about that. BUT.. I ran into problems straight away. It’s been a long time since I’ve had an issue such as this so here is what happened:
I noticed straight away upon powering up the computer there was a high pitched sound coming from the drive, something I have never heard coming from a SSD.
I couldn’t do a fresh install of Window;
I removed from the pc and noticed the drive was quite hot so I let it cool down.
Next PC I plugged it into recognised the drive briefly, but stopped responding while attempting to format in the Windows Disk Management utility. I let it go for about 15 minutes, hoping it would eventually start responding; that PC ended up requiring a hard reset, which I don’t really like doing as the PCs configured with a RAID, write caching disabled without a UPS.
Next, I connected the SSD to a USB SATA adapter, tried running some diagnostics software in a PXE without success. After I exhausted my diagnostics I came to the realisation that I unfortunately have a defective SSD.
I will hold off on further critique and judgments until I have a response from Silicon power.
I have not given up on the brand yet as it’s the first Silicon power SSD failure I’ve ever experienced and I’m confident this is a rare event.
Silicon power: could you please just send me another SSD?
