A knife of Oblivion was an interesting novel in that it shifted the focus away from Briand, and on to Kael and Ari. Not gonna lie, it was fascinating seeing how similar these two men are. How it wouldn’t have taken much for their roles to be reversed. However, seeing more of these characters means that Briand is either absent, or felt like a secondary character for the majority of the story. Which was somewhat disappointing, especially when it meant having to endure more of Crispin. Grr the child is infuriating (lol. Well done Ms Ellison on crafting character that illicit such an emotional response.)
Still loving this series. Politics, romance, magic and danger. What else can we ask for? Oh yes, dragons. If you are looking for a well written fantasy you can relax and enjoy you will want to give this series a try. I like the episodic format (oops, showing my star trek tendencies!) I save my five stars for the more complex stories so a 4 star rating reflect my high mevelbof enjoyment and respect for this series. Look forward to more.
This book like the SEVEN before it did not fail in enthralling me all the way to the very end. Although it came to a nice close, I cannot wait for the next installment and if I got my wish, there would be 8 more. Im just not getting tired of these characters.
To be honest, the FROST chronicles did not captivate me as much as this series does, I didn’t even finish it, but this storyline is so amazing and exciting! I really hope that I don’t have to wait another year before the next one.
This is one of the most solid series I have read to date. Kate Avery Ellison has a special way of developing characters that reminds me of Mercedes Lackey and Anne McCaffrey. I just can't wait for the next book in the series.
I had been looking for something to read and stumbled across A Gift of Poison. I downloaded the sample and was hooked. I managed to go through all 8 books in about 3 weeks.
I can't wait to see what happens next to out Thief-Queen and band in Gillspin and the prince and queen in Nyre in this steampunk meets fantasy meets magic meets dragon series. It has something for everyone.
This book was so enjoyable to me to be able to see what was going on more with the side characters and view things from their perspectives. I especially loved the ending as well with how happy and hopefully everything seemed. This series is addicting and so well done.
