I'm fairly new to this genre of book, and I was pleasantly surprised and intrigued with this story. I read it within a couple of days!! I loved the snarkiness between the two main characters. The storyline flowed well. There was "holy cow" moments, sweet moments, edge of your seat moments. Can't wait to delve into the rest of the series.
Loved the whole story, not a boring bit anywhere. Enchanting, thrilling, completely compelling. Very hard to put down, I just wanted more after each page. I will definitely be buying the rest of the series..💜
I enjoyed this interesting twist of Beauty and the Beast. The story flowed nicely and pulled a large range of emotions from pity to hate, humour to anger. Can't wait to read the next book in the series. Highly recommend.
Really interesting and smart way to think of classic fairytales and still having an original spin on them! Loved the story, the only reason for it not being 5 stars is cause I'm really nit picking. ****SPOILER AHEAD!!!!!***
Firstly how the hell is she pregnant maybe that's just me not having read or understood some parts correctly but I don't remember reading they did anything that far ... 😂 Also I felt the ending was a bit simple.. or to out it better not a disappointment, but I thought there would be more, to stay true to the really good flow of the story from the start.
Other than me being fussy really liked it, even though a lot of whiplash with the MCs, deffo recommend ✨👌
The trouble with a handsome man being the Beast is that it usually means he has a bad temperament, which tends to end up feeling abusive. If he's an actual beast, at least there's somewhat of a 'well, he's a beast of course he acts like that' feeling.
In this one I have mixed feelings. You do get the abusive vibe from him and hope that he reforms quickly. Instead, it's back and forth to where you think he's getting better, then acts like a jerk again. That happens for literally three quarters of the story, so if that bothers you, you may skip it. Though it's not as bad as some I've read, just kind of annoying.
What saves the story is the main character or "Beauty". She's got character and spunk and it's fun to see her grow as a character.
The world and back story are a good premise even though I don't see it as super close to Beauty and the Beast. My favorite character was the little goblin Gobbersnot, he definitely adds color to the story! 😂
Overall, a decent, creative story with just a few annoying elements that bring it down a bit.
I generally don’t love writing poor reviews on free novels, or giving less than five stars. But to be honest, this story and the writing started so strong I was instantly drawn in. The setting and characters were great. And the build up drew me in. However, about halfway through, it lost my interest, though I held on in hopes that it would return to the former state. But it didn’t. The male lead, as far as I can tell, has zero redeeming qualities. He’s a jerk who occasionally shows affection. To me, that’s not redeeming, it’s manipulative. The female lead seemed so strong, but for some reason loses her head over this jerk who can‘t be bothered to show her even human decency or a little affection in public. Kinda reeks of an abusive relationship.
Not my cup of tea. Mercurial and strong is a common trope, but this one misses the mark on that front.
An amazing retelling/repurposing of beauty and the beast. I devoured this book but of course I did this is Chandra Hahn and know does twisted fairy tale like her. The only reason this is a solid 4 stars is because the prince was so awful throughout most of the story his declaration of love and attempt at redemption were just not enough for me. I hated him and there was just not enough time left for him to become a hero to unconditionally root for at the end.
I love when author's put their own spin-off of the common fairy tales and really works. Clear is the example of Chanda Hahn. She mixes the classic story of beauty and the beats but gives her own plot twists full of mystery and guessing. That certainly keeps you reading without stopping. I can't wait to read the next one.
Pulled at my heart strings! There was fantastic world building and a great storyline. Will definitely continue reading the series. (However, very sad that the love scene was only implied). * What can I say? I love saucy stories! 😉😘❤️
