I bought this Garmin dashcam 56 model for my second vehicle, since I already have the 55 model (now discontinued) for my truck which I was happy with. The main difference is the wider field of view of 140° compared to 120° of the 55 model - the wider field of view means that objects will be smaller in the image (personally I liked the 120° view, since it captured enough of the critical image without loosing important detail considering the MP of both cameras is the same). The 56 model can accommodate a 512 GB micro SD memory card whereas the 55 model a 256 GB card. I also like the fact that this new model can be used with an app that can be hooked up to a total of 4 cameras (I have not tried this yet) and it also has the "parking mode" feature if you buy the separate cable for it, plus they both have voice commands (which I like). Some people don't like the small magnetic mount, but I like it because it leaves a very small "footprint" (compared to a suction cup) and keeps the look stealthy. Both models are the same size and I have not had any issues with them so far.

This is a replacement for the first one I bought & returned because it would not work. This one works perfectly. The SD card formatted as specified in the manual and the camera paired without a problem with my iPhone, with the DriveSmart app and with Garmin Express - there were no issues. Recorded picture quality is excellent and review via the phone and computer worked great. I will probably get another unit for the rear window.

Hi there just got my garmin tandem its awesome unfortunately the parking mode will not even show up on the garmin drive app without the parking cable i tried two different power bankes both 5 volt they powered the camera perfectly but you cannot trick the device into thinking its connected to the parking mode cable so what im saying is it has nothing to do with constant power its. All in the cord but i already knew that as per their instructions someone posted a review saying a power bank can be used well its BS so dont believe everything you read that aside this is the best dash cam ever made make sure you by the parking mode cable if you want to use parking mode

The only dash cam that is not manufactured in China and is a made in Taiwan product. Garmin again has it's quality and is not a run of the mill product and I am happy that I purchased this Product. One more thing that manufacturer has to advice customers is that the camera will not respond if you are trying the setup by connecting it to a laptop., You will need to connect to 5V discharging unit from the electrical outlet and only then Camera starts to respond and the phone should be nearby.

Not only does it take good videos, it also has other features I had not anticipated. The forward collision warning is nice to have, although I have yet to check if the sensitivity is adjustable, so it won't activate so often. The "traffic is moving" warning is great for drivers who don't pay attention to what is going on around them. The lane departure feature is also handy. I haven't explored the voice command feature yet, but will do so to see what is useful in that regard. I have only used it for a week, but so far I am very pleased.

Bought this for my 2019 Rav 4.
Mounted it semi hidden behind the rear view mirror and thanks to a YouTube video the cable is tucked away and out of sight.
Its been a couple of months now in Vancouver weather and the sticky magnet base plate is holding up very well.
I am very happy with this dashcam.

Great little unit. Easy to setup. Just make sure you buy a micro SD card which is not included.
Sync to my Pixel 5 with Garmin Drive app. Read other reviews that the unit gets too hot when in use. To be honest, I have no reason to touch it after I stuck it behind my rearview mirror. I also don't have the parking module for it to be on 24/7.
