I bought the old MK1 BroShaver because it was a no-nonsense cheap way of shaving your back that didn't involve extortionate blade replacements. After my old one inexplicably disappeared I thought I'd buy this new version and It does the same job, but It's not accurate to call this an upgrade. It's a bit more economical with only two blades and more adjustable because of the two different guard lengths which does provide a much more comfortable shave with almost no razor burn. The handle, however, is shorter and thinner and that makes it a lot more difficult to reach areas of your back, not impossible but you definitely need some patience..I've not had it break on me yet but then again I have been very careful.
This is the second back shaver I've tried after first trying the bakblade 2.0.
BroShaver vs. Backblade: I would say the BroShaver is the overall superior product. I was able to get good results with both the BroShaver and the BakBlade. Both shavers require multiple passes to get all the hair. Where the BroShaver shines is that it takes double sided razors instead of proprietary blades. My hair is quite coarse so I dull blades quickly. This means the BroShaver is much cheaper and easier to use in the end. My only complaint with the BroShaver is that the shaver head does not bend or swivel. Depending on how flexible you are it can be hard to get every spot on your back. Not a deal breaker because after some bending and stretching in the mirror I have a nearly hairless back. So that's nice.
Started out with the back blade 2.0 but I could only get one good shave out of an expensive set of blades, I even tried swapping the blades around incase it was wearing one blade, made no difference. The bro shaver was cheaper to buy and the blades are pennies. Happy I bought it, just wish I hadn't spent the money on the back blade.
I was skeptical of this device, as my back is *very* hairy and thick, but it worked like a charm! Easy to install the blades, easy to use on shoulders, upper back and lower back (it is helpful to go from the side for lower back). I would highly recommend it. I used it about 4-5 times and now need to switch the blades, seems reasonable.
