I was looking forward to see how this new Duracell held up---I have over 12 trail cams which function 24/7 and use AA batteries. I used my voltage tester on the pkg of 12 Duracell Opt AA batteries. One was "dead" . No matter how I placed it and I also used a second volt meter I have, this battery was DOA. Disappointed and sent pkg back. Occasionally I will test a new pack of AA batteries, as "battery failure" is the most common problem with my trail cams. I would add that I do not think this is a brand "issue", but rather high productivity of a item that is in constant and high demand. Yes , I have had a similar situation with other brands.
I brought DURACELL alkaline batteries recently. I used 4 of them in digital electronic door lock. Thee door lock worked only a week and then stopped working. We opened the door lock and checked batteries. They were oxidized with green color on them. I put another set of 4 and they also did not work. Changed batteries in TV remote after a week it says remote low batteries. May be a bad batch or sitting too long on shelf. Unfortunately I could not return window is closed .
UPDATE: I used the batteries in my Z Wave wireless door lock. Within one month I got a low power reading. When I checked the 4 batteries I used they were all low. Very disappointing. So I changed all 4 to new Energizers. These got low battery readings even sooner. So the new Duracell's seem to last longer than others, but not by much. The batteries come in a resealable package. The batteries were loose so I counted them and still had all twelve. I tested each one and they were all fully charged so I decided to keep them. I obviously cannot comment on their longevity and unfortunately I cannot tell how old they are either. I am dismayed that they don't have "Use by" or "Made on" dates that I am use to seeing on Duracells. Since they are a new version, I will assume they are new, but I could be wrong. I will update this review after I have used them for a while.
I’m sure the product works fine. The packaging came destroyed and the inner plastic was already opened with a battery missing. It looks like someone tried to repackage it — unfortunately not very well.
