Brilliant bulbs that connect in seconds

So I firstly went for the no branded multicoloured wifi bulbs. After 3.5 hours of trying to set them up, I sent them back and gave up. Then I saw these and thought I'd try a couple. And now I have 10 of them. Important things to know, these are white only. They won't change colour and they won't change temperature. They seem to have about 10 brightness settings 10%-100% (and off of course).

Also worth noting, these are Bluetooth, not wifi. So they don't have to be close to your router and when your internet or wifi goes down, you can still turn your lights on.

To install, you just screw the bulb in, I didn't use the Philips app, I just added a light through the Alexa app. It found it in about 7 seconds and paired straight away. I grouped the lights in the app based on room so I can just say eg "Alexa, turn the landing light off".

Overall, a bit pricey and I can't comment on longevity yet. But worth buying over the no brands for a hassle free installation.

Doesn’t dim in our table lamp

Our first Hue lamp bulb. Placed in a normal table lamp.

We use it via the Hue app and by a 3rd party app which all our other (Ceiling) Hue lights are synced with. It also works by Bluetooth but we’ve run it through the Hue Bridge so I cannot comment how effective the Bluetooth function is.

Turns on and off via voice command Or via the app. Lights and goes off as you would expect but will not dim. Or rather it will dim for a few seconds but then turns itself up full again!. Can’t test it elsewhere as all our other lights are bayonet fitting - an expensive mistake.

Doesn't work with home assistant unless you have a Hue Bridge.

This is very misleadingly advertised as a home assistant compatible lightbulb. It's literally true, but only if you also shell out for a separate piece of equipment that costs nearly £50. This is a glorified Bluetooth lightbulb, and you should value it accordingly. It is no more useful to me than a standard lightbulb, so I believe it was extraordinarily overpriced. Would not recommend.

Update: after about a week or so, the bluetooth has stopped working altogether, so now it has to be turned on and off like a regular light. I've reset it, deleted the bluetooth connection from phone, etc.. The app is now permanently stuck on this screen. I can't fathom how lights like this have such high reviews here, at first it only worked via bluetooth, and now not at all. It's basically a regular light, total waste of money.

I have multiple smart bulbs and always feel the Philips Hue bulbs are leagues ahead. The setup is so straightforward using the Alexa app, literally plug and play. The bulb is bright and stays extremely cool and very economical. Using the Alexa app or echo you can control this bulb easily, very responsive. The bulb can also be dimmed which is brilliant.

I couldn’t recommend this product enough. Buy with extreme confidence.

Annoying when they unpair or Alexa doesn’t respond!

I have had these in my hall for a few months now. I have 3 in my main light and are nice and bright but we turn them down so they are so bright which is great for me as I suffer from migraines. Most of the time they work really well but some times they do not respond or become unpaired which can be annoying and tedious to sort out. The unpairing can’t be a WiFi problem because it is in the same room as the lights??! Some times Alexa doesn’t always turn them all on or all off and some times doesn’t recognise the command to turn them off or on at all.

I use this in a lamp, I have the bridge and multiple hue bulbs around the house.
I have this lamp bulb paired with a remote that controls two lamps in my living room so that I can easily control both lamps at a touch of a button.

Bought this bulb thinking it would give the alternative white colours as some of my other bedroom bulbs which are also candle bulbs. I hadn't realised that philips do a normal and ambience version. This being the normal version. Slightly disappointed that this only offers the single white colour so only brightness can be adjusted. As expected bulb was added to the philips hue app within seconds.

For what it is it's overpriced and junk. It keeps losing connection with Google (other smart bulb and plugs don't have this issue) and the app it comes with while somewhat reliable, requires you to keep Bluetooth on 24/7 otherwise it throws a hissy fit (again, other bulbs once syncd with Google home don't have this issue).

I would buy it again, however I hope that when it comes down to actually needing to buy another the technology and app have significantly improved.

These light bulbs are awful, need resetting/resetting up almost daily if used with Alexa/Google Home. The non-branded versions that are cheaper are miles better. I would not waste your money on these. Honestly awful, and their customer service is appalling too.
Buy another brand/non-branded ones!!
