Stunning album, topped all my expectations. Much bluesier than his/their others, with gorgeous guitar work worthy of early Fleetwood Mac. Don’t be put off by the 3 tracks per side - lengthy cuts and a real full album’s worth. After “Ryman” this is undoubtedly my favourite JI & 400 U (so far!).
Here we see J.I. & the early 400 Unit demolishing a small club venue with style & ferocity. I know Jason has asked fans not to buy this, citing poor sound quality, but if you like a dirtier sound, hold tight! He roars through material from his DBT days, his first solo album & for good measure delivers a soaring version of Van Morrisson's Into The Mystic. Finally issued on vinyl, it is essential listening! It is also an interesting bookend to his later release Live From The Ryman. You don't want to miss killer versions of Decoration Day, Grown & G-ddamn Lonely Love now do you?
