To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I had massive problems setting this up (I have 50+ devices in the house this was the hardest) It has a VERY LOUD annoying beep when trying to join the wifi (using 2.4Ghz). It did not work on my Android phone, eventually had to switch to iphone (at set location to 'when using only' for eWeLink app. The email field in ewelink is a terrible app, is case sensitive so if your phone capitalises it the app will say your account doesn't not exist. Then finally i did get it configured and fitted it to the fan. Yes it does work with Alexa, you can turn the fan on and off , you can turn the light on and off. But you cant control the speed via Alexa. In IFTTT , apparently you have to select a single switch config, but my list of devices in IFTTT for this fan is empty (a common problem if you google it) but even if it did work in IFTTT you can only turn it on and off, not the light or the speed. I think this should be specified and not just say that its compatible, its about 30% compatible. but having said all that ( I bought this for IFTTT and integrate it into my smart house) it does work with alexa for basic functions. I would like to see all speeds/light work with Alexa and IFTTT then it would be 5* review.
If you have a smart switch with no neutral wire add the capacitor on the input of the device otherwise it’ll continue to cut out but I have that in now and it’s working perfect the fan is in my sisters room and I wanted to make sure it was safe to use and she’s going for a whole smart set up so this works perfect box is bigger than expected but I’ve placed it in the loft and works fine very happy :)
Might as well thrown money down the drain. It started well with unit in pair mode I had to switch my modem to 2.4ghz only while trying to pair however after the sequence of pairing timed out it would no longer pair. So I tried the remote, this was paired so I followed many step by step instructions to try and get a beep from the unit but no luck it was having none of it. But at least the unit worked from the remote right, wrong! The unit then decided it wouldnt work with the remote it had somehow unpaired itself so the only thing I could do is switch the light on/off by the Aetna button I left it disconnected for a week to see if the unit would refresh, nope no luck. I thought ok these sonoff guys will respond to my email, no response I posted on the forum, no response. So I went from having a working ceiling fan to nothing in the middle of a heat wave. I have today removed the unit from my fan and awaiting a replacement from another company to which I hope is better than this. I have other sonoff units in my house which work fine but this is just buggy and non responsive waste of components. If I could of scored zero I would. I gave the company time to help, respond etc before posting a bad review as I would normally be respectful to company’s trying to build a good image etc but 12-14 days no response or help I feel I have been ripped off.
I really can't fault this product. I fitted this to a viper fan and did have to adapt the case a little bit for it to fit in the slot. As for the connections, straight forwards to connect and works a dream. Worth saying that to replace this module with the rf only device from the manufacturer was over £80 so I bought this given the price.
