Good looks , easy to install BUT BIG problem when you attach Sensor bridge for motion and contact sensors, it won’t fit/Won’t even lock properly. Check my photo with the open parts, Need to think otherwise if adapting sensor bridge
While the housing is well made, it doesn't allow a camera to use the Wyse Bridge. A boss on the inside of the housing at the mount screw interferes with the space used by the Wyse Bridge plugged into the camera. As a result the housing can't be closed.
I spent hours trying to connect my Wyze camera to network. However, it is stuck in "Ready to connect" stage. I was able to connect to my wifi without the case. Once I move the preconfigured camera to the housing case and the device is saying "Ready to connect" again. It goes in loops when I tried different ways to fold the mounting plate before inserting into the case. I realized that the case is pressing the "reset" button upon inserted. I initially decided to return the unit, then I modified my Wyze camera by unscrewing the folding magnetic base that is causing the constant "Ready to connect" issue. I inserted a left over furniture clip from Ikea to cushion the gap created by the removal of the base, and closed the casing. Finally, my modified camera was able to connect in this case, proving the issue at first was caused by the bad design.
This case provides significant weather protection. My cams have been running for months without a problem. However, it does have a couple significant problems. First, the metal rod holding the case to the mount is not stainless and rust quickly. Second, the 4 screws holding the case together are buried in a long "tube". If the case is not mounted with an upward tilt, rain water will flow down the tubes and get into the case. Third, a gasket is needed between the case and the camera, rain seeps into the case. Lastly, there are no water drain holes to allow water to escape. Water seepage will build a puddle. I just lost a camera to this problem.
This kit is pretty flimsy. It will do the trick in a pinch but there are better ones available. Also, as with many mounting kits, if you have a Wyze Sensor Bridge on the back of your camera, it doesn't fit. Had to screw the back and front together as tightly as they'd go and the use tape to seal it off. Since the whole point it to protect the camera from bad weather, it's sort of a waste of time and money.
The screws to attach the two halves of the unit together were missing (for both units in my pack of 2). Instructions were insufficient.. got things working after making lots of mistakes (and a tape to put the two halves together). The ball joint (after complete assembly) isn't tight enough for the camera to stay in the position I want. Overall, lots of hacks required to put things together. I would not recommend this product.
Both pass-through port size and case depth are insufficient to allow the use of a USB cable for daisy-chaining cameras. Additionally, shortness of the support arm results in interference between the unit's case and its base piece, limiting camera lens pointing to short of perpendicular.
I purchased 2 of these 4 moths ago. They were easy to install and seem to protect the WYZE cams from weather, but now they are impossible to disassemble. The 4 screws used to hold the 2 halves together are made of mild steel. In 4 months time they have corroded to the point where nothing but a drill and a screw extractor will remove the screw. I can’t access the memory card or the power cable.
