To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Bought this as a replacement for on older Rexing V1 dashcam. Performs admirably. The rear cam is a nice touch. Had to sticky it up to the rear windshield. Split view on the dashcam is a nice touch ! So far, no complaints ! Will update in a couple of months.
On a different note, there was a card in the package offering a free gps unit if a five star review is given .. Thats simply not right. So you may want to take the reviews in here with a grain of salt.
This dual front/rear dashcam had great reviews, but I later learned that those were largely due to incentives that the company apparently gave to customers in order to boost the product's ratings. The front camera is decent, but can be drastically affected by sunlight obscuring views. The rear camera was so bad that I chose not to use it. The rear camera looks so hazy and opaque that it's essentially useless. There's also no mobile app, so retrieving cam footage requires removing the dashcam and using the USB for downloading; another alternative is removing the SD card. Both are annoying. I should've bought a dashcam with wifi.
There's an on/off button on the dashcam, so even if you turn the car off while the dashcam is still plugged in, it will continue to be on. Having to remember to turn the dashcam on/off is annoying, but that's to allow parking monitoring to work.
Overall it's okay, I guess for a first dashcam purchase, but not having wifi/no app/bad rear camera are definite drawbacks.
The one real issue I’ve found with this camera so far is that it doesn’t always turn on. Picture quality is good enough in the front, and enough to prove your accident in the rear (no denying it’s a cheap product), but if it won’t turn on, what’s the point? Only way to correct it is the little reset button (I suggest keeping the included pin in your vehicle), but you won’t always know it’s happening in the moment, and that could be the window in which you needed it. For example, I drove 5 minutes home from the store today, almost got swiped by a speeding driver, but had no footage when I got home. The rest of the day was on the card, though. I clear the card every few days just to be safe, so it has nothing to do with being full. Still debating whether I should return it for something trustworthy. Other than that, it’s simple, I like the low profile design, and no other complaints for the price.
I currently use a Nexar dashcam, and wanted to at least have a decent dashcam for my parents' cars since I see the importance of having a dashcam in general. I got this Apeman dashcam for my parents' Toyota Sienna. After receiving it tried installing it alongside my dad, but right before I was going to stick it onto the Windshield, my dad asks if he can see the video via his phone live. Sorry dad, not with this one. Seems my dad got jealous and out right asked for the Nexar instead. This Apeman dashcam does come with a 2nd camera (rear camera) that you'd install onto your rear license plate or I guess on the ceiling inside the car (screws, not stickers). My dad didn't like all the wires, so I ended up returning this camera. I still think it's a decent camera, but you need to put in the work and effort to install it for it's full potential.
I have been using dash cams in all my cars for the past few years, so a new car calls for a new dash cam. I started with dash cams that cost a 100USD and worked my way down about 70USD just for the sake of finding the best bang for the buck dash cam available. Those dash cams proved reliable and video quality was very good.
So in my curious quest of finding the most bang for the buck dash cam that hopefully would dethrone my last purchase of the 70USD unit i found the specs and reviews of this dash cam quite good , 59 USD for dual cameras!
Daytime video quality is good, At night i would consider it average at best even though we have a million streetlights where i live!
the biggest disappointment however is the rear camera, its poor, the video is over exposed during the day and at night the video is like watching fireflies on a black screen...just horrible.
so my previous 70USD dash cam keeps its bang for the buck title.
This looks like a quality item, but it only has a wired option. Others have a battery option. Also, it looks like it may be confusing to operate. I would love to have kept it, but it may be for a more tech savey user. I can't comment on it much further as I really didn't attempt to install it, nor did I really take it out of the box. If you want a dash cam without wires and very simple options, look elsewhere. It does look like a great dash cam though. I am shipping it back and may look at the Sharper Image one that looks much simpler.
It is a decent camera with nice features for the price. The reason that I knocked it down a few notches are because in my truck, with the angle of the windshield I cannot view the LCD screen to see what is being recorded at all. The LCD doesn't have that fantastic of a viewing angle. I you are wanting one for emergencies like collisions and don't care about live viewing it is fine.
I drive a Mustang and the windows are at a lower angle than most cars. When I put this camera, I can’t really see the video... I was going to make the 2nd camera as parking aid for the front and honestly isn’t going to work for the thing I wanted it for. Besides the purpose I want it for, I think the video screen is too flat in the first place. I don’t think this is an ideal dash cam unless you don’t really care to know if your camera is recording or not. This would be great for trucks however.
Update: Downgraded my review to 3 stars because I just found out that it's hard to figure out how to play back the recorded videos. Also, the double sided tape is a pain, they should have used a suction cup instead.
This is a good first time dashcam. It is priced as such. It's very compact and doesn't take up too much space on the windshield. The quality of the recording is ok. Would have been better if it had a suction cup instead of the double sided tape.
