To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Having read one of Dreeke's previous books I expected this to be no nonsense, this book disappointment me. The parts of the book related to the topic is great, but by cooperating with someone else and writing a book to fit in with a political zeitgeist Dreeke has lost his previous no nonsense attitude. What is worse is that he makes claims about political historical situations that anyone who knows anything about the topic will know is false. I hope this book will be released again, without the political hogwash. Without the political parts it would have been a five star book
Still not read the book, but I know this is very good and after hearing from so many industry leaders expecting less would be underestimating it! I hope I will be able to hear it on audible India too!!! So excited!!!!
Robin Dreeke brings his unique experience in this book which is a mix between a manual and a selfbiography. Very useful and practical and at the same time touching for the real stories told and the real people involved.
I heard the author in a podcast interview and was fascinated by his expertise and examples of how to size people up. I should have gotten the audio version instead of trying to enjoy the book. It’s chock full of personal anecdotes, which coming from the point of view of a retired FBI agent, are interesting, but the rest feels like a PowerPoint presentation. In addition it felt like this book is intended for ladder climbers in corporate America and not for a Joe Shmoe factory worker like me. Much of it is common sense stuff with tips for reading body language cues too, but I’d recommend an audio version or finding the author’s interviews to maintain your interest. Can’t really name any ground breaking take-aways either.
Wondering if the very attractive, smart, ambitious sweet young thing with the dagger nails and masters degree in business from USC suddenly sharing your perch on the corporate ladder at work is trustworthy or not? Wonder no more. Former FBI agent Robin Dreeke’s new book, Sizing People Up, provides a Technicolor A to Z guide to just that, how best to determine how much and how far those around you can be trusted. Derek is the former head of the FBI’s Counterintelligence Behavior Analysis Program, but he’s no wonk. Sizing People Up is far more of a story—beginning with Dreeke’s tale of nearly being obliterate by a falling tower on 9/11—than a do this, do that self help manual. And though much if not most about sizing people up would lie in your ability to get a straight answer to the question: what do you want? The Devil is in the details and Dreeke has lots. And his advice? Among other things, deception is not always based on dishonesty but delusion. Your NBF tells you he’s great at basketball and could be a point guard in the NBA? And really believe it. So best go see him stuff a few on the court. My example not Dreeke’s and I won’t step on his punch lines, better to just go get the book.

Using this system, it's easy to look back with 20/20 hindsight and see how it applied to so many people I've known. The fascinating historical vignettes from the worlds of law enforcement, business, and intelligence/counter intelligence that back up each step really bring the points home, showing real world application. From now on, I'll be seeing Dreeke's positive and negative tells everywhere I look, and I will be "Sizing People Up"!
