Hi Im not sure that I have recieved the exact item I purchased, I payed $85.00, for what I wanted and saw this exact same item for $29.00 on your website, I ordered the more expensive one, and to be honest this lock is pretty flimsy and not made from sturdy materials for what I want to lock away, so I dont think its the model that I actually purchased
Pros: - nice way to not have to deface your cabinet/drawer - once installed, very easy to open/close, far better than a combo or key lock - lots of cards/fobs (but see cons) for use with any lock so don't need multiple keys
Cons: - both the cabinet and drawer needed modifications to provide right framing for latch and RFID unit. - fobs did not work on drawer (just drawer front + drawer frame) (though card did) - could not program cards as "user cards", only as "management cards"
In the end, the cabinet and drawer that I wanted to get locked are locked. The benefits of RFID over combo or key lock are certainly worth the money (in my mind). HOWEVER: I probably spent 6 hours all told modifying the framing so the latch and RFID unit had a place to be screwed into. I'd say, especially with drawers there are physical limits that might prevent its use (granite countertop, shallow drawer). The other thing, I could program a "management" card or fob and as many user *fobs* as I liked. BUT, I could not make *any* user *cards*. This means for our drawer, where the fob did not work, we only have one key--a card. This is a bit risky since my partner and I are sharing this one card and there are no "backups".
My absolute favorite investment. Have 3 all different brands I believe. Easy to install any or most applications. Holds very well. Assuming desk and filing cabinet would be disassembled before it gave. I’ve owned and researched many safes and gun cases. With kids or even home invasion I’d like to believe not on would a safe be more work to access but I’d like to think a safe blares I have something worth value or getting into. Make any drawer or cabinet into a quick, simple, easily accessible and definitely secure safe. With some research or an imagination the more complex but plan sight safes get really cool and are near impossible to find yet in my hands faster than I can stand up and defend myself. Only single small complaint is that it seems there are 2 different reader coding and they can’t as I understand be interchanged.
Tried using for a lock for a stool with gas assist springs and the tension those apply to the lock keeps it from opening. You have to push slightly on the lid of the stool to release tension for it to open. Also no instructions on how to properly mount the top and bottom, which aren't naturally aligned and as such, its a guessing game. I did use a piece of double sided tape to attempt to get it accurate, but still had to use spacers to adjust as no adjustment on device itself. The power to usb is also pretty cheap. have to loosen it ever so slightly to get contact. nothing that I would trust.
I have bought several of these locks, but the last few have contained cards that would not program. I had extra cards and was able to program them with no issues. I hope the company will take a look at this issue. It’s very frustrating.
