Overall this is a good game and very nostalgic. However once you’ve lost all life’s it takes you right back to the beginning of the game! Not so great when you have little ones who got themselves past a particularly tricky bit and are proud, then to lose all their efforts completely. Good for older children who accept that it’s all part of the fun, but for typical 7-10 year olds this would be very frustrating.
My daughter is 6 and loves both of these disney films. Growing up I never had a NES so couldn't play these games unless I was at friend's houses. Lots of nostalgic vibes.
Initially when the game loads on the Ps4 it looks small in the screen, much like the original resolution of CRT TVs. If you press the touch pad button on the Ps4 controller, a totally different option menu appears. It gives you the option to save the game, change the view and make it full screen and to also adapt the controls (We have changed X to mean jump in Aladdin because it is just how most PS games are so makes gameplay a little easier). For those who are saying that their kids are getting frustrated because it restarts, there is a cheat button. Press and hold L1 and you can rewind your play if you miss a jump or die.
Keep in mind that these games were originally very hard, so you wouldn't be able to play and finish them in an hour. My 6 year old has at of fun playing this. For anyone who thinks you have to complete Aladdin before playing The Lion King, that is not true. On the very first screen once you've pressed any key to play, press the right direction button and you can play The Lion King.
Unfortunately there are no instructions with this game, so I can see why it's confusing for the player and wanted to share my findings!
Otherwise the game is lots of fun to play and actually its great value having both games on the one disc.
Bought this for my daughters birthday it was 24 she used to love her on the Sega so when I bought it she was thrilled to bits her and a sister who is 34 played all night absolutely love it just like the original brought back so many memories for them would highly recommend it
These games seemed so much better back in the day! But then guess you didn't know any better! On our 65" TV the actual game play just becomes a square in the middle with more background surrounding it then play area! I also remember why these games lasted forever ...after a few times of losing your life the game would start all over again! Urgh!!! Good for reliving my childhood but not going to be my go to game.
One star because I can’t put in zero. You remember when you were a kid and put 10ps into video games in the arcade (in the early ‘80s)? Well, the graphics on this game plus game play are worse than the Double Dragons and Outruns. I had read reviews that the graphics were “basic” but this takes the biscuit.
