I bought 8 of these to install in AirBNB for owner storage bins. After the initial challenge of installing the first one, I figured out a good system and the rest went in pretty easy. I did need to use some extra tape than what they provide, but also might have been due to the unfinished wood I was attaching to. Installed with standard #2 pine (1x10 boards cut into doors), the RFID card works - just barely through the wood. Its too much for the provided fobs though. I'm interested to see how they work in the longterm, i.e. 5 to 15 years as they were much more expensive that standard options. But with standard locks you see the lock and ruins the board and harder to put in. So - let see. Hope they continue to work well.
I will give this product a full five stars if I knew for sure that it’s not going to lock me out when the batteries die. Some of these types of locks comes with a feature that opens automatically if the batteries die. Can somebody please tell me if this is the case for this lock. I’ve tested it and it seems like this feature is not available but I have noticed that if the batteries are not installed in the lock the latch won’t catch but it just doesn’t seem consistent.
I'm not super handy, so the installation on these wasn't great. That is, I'm not competent enough to do a great job. But, with a lot of adjustments to both the lock position, height, and door position, it's in. And it works great! If you have something you want locked, but don't want an obvious keyhole screaming "hey I'm locked check me out" then I recommend this. Going on a year with no battery change. Haven't locked myself out yet.
I found them easy to install, if you have access thru the back. Building flag concealment cases, its fast. Programming was easy, but was only able to get 2 masters created, if trying to program two or more locks to work off the same card. If you only need one, no program. Would have given it a 5, but there were times you needed to multiple swipe, to get the lock to release. Through 3/4 wood, only cards worked, not fobs. They worked. Will need two AA batteries and philips screwdriver or drill
The lock is fantastic. It is very strong and gets the job done. I just had a hard time adjusting it during installation. I also bought separate wrist band RFID bracelets but the cabinet thickness (standard 3/4”) makes it hard to pick up the signal from the bracelet. Using the keys that came with the lock works perfectly fine.
This won't keep a determined thief out but is designed in my view to stop the crime of opportunity. We use this to keep a dementia patient out of drawers and doors where she tears the room apart thinking she's straightening it.
Great and super cool item. I bought for a kitchen cabinet I use for meds, to keep them locked up. It was difficult to find a place on the cabinet frame solid enough to latch this to where both pieces could line up, and the batteries seem to die fairly quickly. There is a warning beep, and the instructions say so not lock it after the warning beep because if it dies when closed, it can't be opened again. Other than those things, it works very well with the key cards, and serves its purpose.
After buying several types of locks, I was impressed with this one. There were instructions included and a good description of how to reset/program the RFID. We repeated it until we understood exactly what to do, and it worked well. I would like to find similar locking systems with various mounting designs, for other applications. It was a little difficult to install, though it was more where we wanted it installed, in a desk drawer that didn’t line up exactly. The sensor is better than I expected, it works through ¾” wood. The lock release action is surprising strong, much better than other devices I’ve purchased. And the price was low for the number of RFID devices (2 tags/2 cards) supplied.
The product works just fine, but had some challenges mounting it so the latch correctly lined up with the lock. I had to remount twice. Some detailed instructions of correct mounting depths would be helpful.
