Tested with CrystalDiskMark6, the result was very good, slightly better than claimed: 255MB/s r - 255MB/s w Seems other people were saying it's noisy but IMO the noise is more or less the same in comparison to my Seagate IronWolf 10TB, both are 7200 rpm drives. Now scanning disk surfaces, hopefully there is no bad sectors out of the box.
Quietest 7200 rpm disks ive ever had, the fan is slightly noisy, but the disk itself is very quiet. Speed is best i have ever seen from an enclosure disk, formatted and full extended smart test took 16 hrs. Best value disk for the money.
Using for the Xbox One X. Had a 2 TB external drive that was pretty full. Setup was really easy. Formatted in seconds and was easy to transfer all games from the old drive to this one plus added a few more. No problems. Gameplay is excellent. So far seems well built and quiet.
holds 10.9 TB, which is normal for a 12TB drive. im getting between 130 - 210 MB/s write speed so far. the usb ports son the back are 7.5 watts which means 5v 1.5a i think. i heard a rumor that this drive is not a real official WD black. also i heard the fan inside it does not come on until 63C. There is 14TB external hard drives available now that are cheaper per GB then this drive.
Me gustó: su diseño, la velocidad de acceso por USB (alrededor de 800Mbps) y su enorme capacidad.
No me gustó: el mío tuvo una falla en el LED frontal. Simplemente NO prende! increíble...
Observaciones: 1.
Very fast drive but very NOISY as well. After the XBOX ONE X boots up and the games tab is accessed, there's a lot of hard drive noise for a while as it accesses the games library. Then once a game is chosen the noise ratchets up again. Even when the XBOX is off and set to instant on mode, every once in a while the drive makes some noise. Great speeds from this drive but the noise is a deal breaker. Fast 7200rpm drives do make noise, but this one seems to be excessive.
Hi, as some people mentioned before, the hard drive is noisy. If you are playing or listening to your tv or music, maybe you do not hear it. I got two of them, 12TB each. In less than a month I noticed the noise, first on one of them, and later the same in the second one. When the xbox is off, every 4 minutes the two hard drives start to spin and end with a loud click noise. I was thinking about returning them because a clicking hard drive is sooner than later a failing one. It happened to me before with internal hard drives. I do not know why xbox keep them on, playstation do not do that with same drives, same brand, playstation turned them completely off. Hopefully this is not a sign that they are going to stop working in the near future, if not, I will be using the 3 years warranty. Everything else is just fine. This is the reason I removed one star.
I've worked with computers for over 40 years and with hard drives going back to when they were 5 MB in size (and still many times bigger than this drive.) Clicky drives are usually pointing to a problem. Now WD is trying to answer with pointers to things on their websites, but those pointers do not really relate to the kinds of sounds that many of us have noted in our reviews. This drive scares me. I will not put anything on it that I don't have a copy on another piece of media.
