I would not recommend buying the mask and snorkel, they leak all the time when you're swimming. Every few meters I am literally stopping to empty out water from my mask and choking on water getting into my snorkel. And then ironically the snorkel holes at the top are so fine it's hard to breathe. Terrible product.
+Very comfortable on the face. +The dry valve works well, when surfacing you can just start breathing straight away, don't need to preserve any air to purge. +The snorkel moulds around the face very well too. +The snorkel clips on and off with relative ease. +The mask strap adjusts very well. +The snorkel mouthpiece is comfortable.
The mask purges fairly well, but some water always seems to remain just under my nose.
-The snorkel air flow feels fairly restricted, probably due to the fact that the tube becomes narrow just before the dry valve. This seems like very poor design, a tube is only as good as it's narrowest point, and this tube is wide everywhere apart from this point. -Removing the dry valve may be possible, but looks like it might be messy and non-reversible.
I made the mistake of scuba diving without first cleaning the mask. Apparently many masks (like this) come with a protective coating on the inside of the perspex and this coating fogs up on long dives. It was still possible to complete the dive but I couldn't see much detail around me. Apparently the solution to this problem is to scrub the inside of the mask with toothpaste and a toothbrush to scour the coating off. Then, just before a dive, rub spit on the inside to act as a barrier from the moisture.
Yeah baby, this snorkel is wicked, taken it to India, Thailand Cyprus and cornwall. If your going to cornwall don't bother, it's to cold to hang about looking for fish, but if your going to Ko Chang then you must buy one, they work perfectly and I saw at least 16 cool fish over 3 months, but that's not the snorkels fault, that's ocean bleaching. But don't get me started on that. Any way buy these and go to the red see and your life will be better for it.
I bought this in September for snorkeling in the Caribbean for Christmas, I was told this was a great snorkel (which it is) you won't be drowned in big waves that's for sure and it's great, the mask offers great viewing angles and is comfortable (men if you don't shave you may suffer from moustache related drowning where the mask doesn't stick but that'd expected) the reason I didn't give this product 5* is Because after 18 hours of traveling to diving paradise the first time I put the mask on the strap snapped, I thought I was over stretching it at first but I was wearing my go pro at the time and after reviewing the footage it snapped under a very small amount of pressure... Luckily I had a spare but if I'd gone all that way and not had a mask for my entire trip I doubt the supplier would be able to offer any compensation to make that right.
