To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Agile Conversations was a revelatory book for me. This was a book I had to study, not simply read. Through research backed theory and practical examples, the authors managed to produce useful and actionable advice on how to better our communication skills. This book gave me reason to start a study group and practice the art of conversation. Using the practical examples and workshop items available in the book, I am able to keep practicing with my group.
On the corporate level, I can appreciate how these new skills will enable me to be a more effective leader and a more efficient employee. What helped with that, was the book helping me realize that it's not the other party that "doesn't get it" or "doesn't understand me", but it is me doing a poor job explaining my fears, my concerns and my viewpoints. Agile Conversations provides a solid framework on how to ensure there are no misunderstandings or communication failures between the parties involved, which makes all the difference in the success of an enterprise.
I shifted from a developer role to a manager role. This gave quickly the insight it's all about the people. This book boosted my knowledge, gave new insights and learned new techniques. I was completely enlightened when I started to practice techniques from the book.If you have ever had the feeling of mastering a programming language, mastering conversations/people can give you exact the same feeling even when you only scratch the surface. And just like with programming languages, you're never done as it keeps evolving. Conversation is such a valuable skill that can be used everywhere, even outside work! An amazing and unique book!
Since I took over the Quality Management work, I was confronted with missing trust, sabotage, and low engagement. This book helps me clearly to improve myself. It is not just superficial pep-talk. Instead, it is a very well organized extraction of decades of experience waiting to be practiced.
One of the best phrases I've heard lately is mature DevOps organizations use simple tools to do complex things and immature ones use complex tools to do simple things. Fredrick and Squirrel offer an exceptional framework to understand the communications teams regularly have during their Agile practices. The framework for Record, Review, Revise and Roleplay as well as the two channel breakout for every conversation. Reading through, even though the conversations were aggregated, I could replay many of my own Agile conversations. This book is a must read. If you haven't thought about these practices recently, you need the refresher, and if you haven't thought of them at all, this is an excellent place to start.
This is not a book for the faint of heart. It’s a quick and easy read. It took me less than four hours, but the value I got from reading was just a small fraction of the value the has to offer. I’d say that this book takes about six weeks to read, maybe twelve. So if you’re not committed to doing the difficult work of practicing to become more skilled at having meaningful conversations that transform teams and businesses, then you’ll miss most of the value. That said, I did get nuggets I can use by reading it end to end, and I even incorporated elements of it into a couple of my recent coaching sessions. I plan to go back and do the work, re-reading the book right.

This is an important book for anyone wondering why their Agile Transformation has failed, or did not deliver everything that was promised. Chapter One covers a lot of important history, but the hard work begins as you work through the conversation examples. The realness of the conversations really pulls you in.
