Highly recommend. It seems that every problem with the original Firefly has been addressed. The LED brightness now lives up to the advertising and additionally matches the Razer Base Station intensity.
I really like this pad! It's not made of fabric, so it's easy to keep clean, nothing to tear or stain or get grungy. I like the durability factor. The cable control is handy to keep cables from shifting around so that you have to yank your mouse cable back. The colours of course are really fun and can sync with the rest of the razor gear as you can see from my mouse in the picture.
Comparing this to my old squishy mouse mat is night and day. My Logitech G900 glides like butter on this surface. It's also nice that the colors pair perfectly with my Razer black widow chroma keyboard. Installing was as simple as plugging in the USB cord and it prompted me to install the new version of razer synapse which unfortunately got rid of all my saved profiles but that's ok because it is a completely new system to customize the colour scheme.
There is one con with all of these devices that I must point out - there is no baked in lighting sync between different PC component/accessory manufacturers. There really needs to be a standardized lighting approach but alas that is the current market. The new version of synapse does however integrate with non-PC lighting such as Nanoleaf and Philips Hue lighting
At first I was a little concern because it's definitely not cheap for what is essentially a mouse pad. I have always been using cloth mouse pads as I found them the most comfortable and that I wouldn't be able to get used to the smoother hard surface when I play games but my worries were for naught as the textured surface was just enough to slide around without feeling slippery. The RGB is beautiful and bright, an improvement from the first version that seemed tucked under. Overall a great addition to my RGB collection.
At least I got the product. Shipping company brought it to the incorrect house but I got it immediately after. The shipped package box was not opened, but inside the shipping box, the product inside was clearly opened before. The seal has been sliced off. No paperwork (warranty, stickers and other Razer goodies) was found inside the box, only the mouse pad was inside. The product itself works fine as intended but the other contents were stolen wherever the product was before being shipped. Knocking down a star due to Amazon stealing contents inside the package before they shipped to me. There is still a serial number to register warranty, but the papers themselves are missing which may be important for other products.. Poor on Amazons part as employees open up packages and steal contents inside before shipping.
I had the original Firefly hard edition, it's very similar in size and feel. The improvements from the rgb lighting, the hub placement and the clips to hold the mouse wire are a bigger selling point, worth the extra money to get this over the original firefly. No cloth version for this model, but that's fine since cleaning will be very easy and the mouse pad will not absorb oils and dirt. As long as you use a mouse with an optical sensor (any razer mouse) the mouse will be very responsive and work flawlessly, same as the previous firefly hard edition.
When I was looking into the Razer products review, I read that the Synapse is supported in the MacOS environment. What it did not say was that it did not support Synapse 3. So while you may think that the Synapse 2 is MacOS compatible, here's another problem. The 1)Razer Mamba Elite, 2)Razer Huntsman Elite, and 3)Razer Firefly V2 that I had purchased recently are all not supported in Synapse 2. When I contacted Razer, all they said was that the Developer may be working on it but they have no idea when it will be available to the public. So right now I'm pretty much stuck with substantially expensive devices that work like any ordinary devices which would cost a fraction of what I had paid for Razers.
