Hard wired installation in our 2020 Subaru Outback and it works very well. Video quality is excellent. Mounted it on the mirror stalk and it is virtually unobtrusive. The instructions are good for a Chinese product. One small operating glitch which took a few minutes to resolve: it is hardwired to the accessory (interior lighting) fuse so it turns on when the driver door is opened and closed - but the cam must be allowed to start up completely before starting the car. Only a few seconds but if the car is started during the boot up then it becomes confused and inoperative. Pressing the power button causes the blue light to turn on and then the cam shuts down. The unit does go dark when the car is started but then it boots up right away. Otherwise the cam operation is flawless, it starts automatically and records, after turning off the video and exiting the car it turns off automatically after 5 minutes. Checked both front and rear video and it's excellent. Would buy again.
Got this to replace my vantrue, not that anything was wrong, it was a few years old and after an incident that my old dash cam proved i was the victim, i had to ensure i had one in working order.
i used my wiring from my old dash cam, it was the same specs and worked well. the suction cup wont hold unless you wet it. not being a fan of falling dash cams i got the mirror mount and like it a lot
the new dash cam (this one) so far works well. i do have some suggestions for software changes: - turn off the red and blue lights, i have tape over them - screen saver should turn the screen black, no need to see how fast i am going
Pros: Overall the camera does a good job. Forward looking is mainly great for day use. Provides excellent resolution forward facing camera. Once set up pretty much hands-free and is accessible via smartphone if the car is on. Rearward camera has infrared lights for night vision and is goo up to about 7-8 feet inside vehicle. Great for Lyft/Uber drivers.
Cons: Forward camera is not a FLIR camera and does a poor job recording at night. Rearward camera has infrared however, day of night records only in black and white.
Really bad CON: The suction cup! TERRIBLE - Should NEVER be made in black. Clear silicon is best. Suction cup failed and camera fell leaving a nice gouge in the dash of a brand new Toyota 4Runner TRD. Yes - Will be reaching out to manufacturer for liability damages for inferior/defective product.
No longer works with my UBER APP worked a week or so then they said the app was down ask me to wait on it to be updated i did now app is updated but no longer works with the uber app you can only use one or the other which defeats its purpose of a UBER CAM and tbe wifi on you phone will not work if the camera is on....i have never tested the video quality out it never worked long enogh and now they put it off until i cant return it very convenient Amazon should step in but they say to late even if its falsely say its UBER CAM!! Now i have to buy another camera
Update 4-22-21 The cam is great, does everything it's supposed to do, the app sux, the app is not very good, it won't let me download videos, I have to change it from KPH to MPH every time I start the app, I bought the cam because it had an app, so this cam does basically the same thing my $50 cam did, frustrating to say the least.
I been thru a few dash cams and so far, with the app, this is the best one yet, I wish it could record to cloud but other than that, great product.
I've looked at dash cams for quite a while - finally pulled the trigger on the Cooau D30 after reading/watching several reviews and checking the price on Amazon. It took me just a few minutes to set it up and I was off yesterday on a couple of errands. When I got home I downloaded the files - couldn't have been easier and the quality was fine for me. For $125 instead of $300+, I got exactly what I wanted. You won't be disappointed if you pick this unit. Drive safe.
This is an excellent little camera, it feels well built, and the feature set is exactly what I wanted. It geotags the videos, has an option to record speeds over time, and has a parking guard mode. I feel safer knowing that anything in and around my car will be recorded and such recordings can be used to protect myself and my passengers.
I got lucky, Amazon had a special on this for one day and I got it for $98. It was easy to set it up to record; it even comes with a helpful, printed manual. You don't see that much anymore! Ten minutes after unboxing the camera and formatting the memory card per the manual it was on my windshield and recording. The results look very nice too. I recommend this dash cam.
Pros: 1. Solid picture quality from both external and internal views. 2. Night vision very acceptable. Just be sure to turn WDR on. 3. Setup is a breeze....either on the cam or from the mobile app 4. GPS watermark is extremely accurate 5. Excellent value for the money Cons: 1. GPS watermark is in degrees, minutes, seconds. Would have preferred it in decimal degrees 2. Window mount is sturdy but a little hard to get in and out of vehicle 3. Cam is not exactly discrete 4. Map display feature on mobile app does not provide adequate detail
