Nice Laptop But Came With Faulty Keyboard
Reviewed in Australia on 21 January 2020
I don't usually return stuff I have bought and this is the first time I have ever returned anything I bought online. However, this laptop came with 4 keys that did not work. I have unboxed about 10 new laptops in my life and have never come across a faulty one. I must be unlucky this time. I called Lenovo Support and they asked me to ask Amazon for a replacement. I have returned the item but because Amazon is out of stock, I have yet to receive a replacement. It's been 3 weeks and still waiting... I've been given an expected re-delivery date of up to 8 weeks.
The laptop itself is not too bad. It's very sleek and lightweight and battery life seems to be good. However, because it's lightweight, it feels dainty, so I feel like I have to be careful when handling it. I will be looking at buying a good protective sleeve when my replacement arrives.
A laptop cannot be reviewed without considering customer support. So here's my feedback on Lenovo's customer support. They have been pretty communicative but not all my issues were resolved. The laptop arrived on 30 Dec 2019, but its warranty start date was in Sep 2019. Wrote to Lenovo Support and they updated the warranty start date. However, they updated it to the date I ordered it, not the date I received it. I was about to write in again when I discovered the faulty keys, so I had to shelf the warranty issue for the time being. Now that the replacement has been ordered, I wrote in again to ask when will the warranty of the new unit start. I was asked to ask Amazon! And I really don't get that. We're talking about manufacturer's warranty here, not Amazon's 30-day purchase satisfaction guarantee. Will see what happens when the replacement arrives.
