4.0 out of 5 stars Great cookbook with helpful tips.

Sheila has done a great job with this cookbook. There’s a good variety of delicious-looking recipes. Additionally, she has included tons of helpful tips - from pantry staples and weekly meal planning to handy kitchen tools and suggestions for using leftovers in other recipes. My only suggestion for improvement would be more photos please! I can highly recommend this book and hope to see more from Sheila in the future.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not REALLY five ingredients

The recipes are good, but the title of the book is deceiving....The recipes have five or less "main" ingredients, but there may be six or seven spices, herbs, seasonings, etc., to add.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Little Cookbook

This is a good little cookbook but definitely includes recipes with more than 5 recipes. I like it though, everything is tasty, specific and very clear. Also, a steal for the price!

This book is great for easy, simplistic recipes. But, make sure you the basic spices plus a few you may not always use because some of the recipes require them. Overall, worth the buy!

4.0 out of 5 stars A good variety of healthy, easy recipes. Not a lot of pictures.
Reviewed in the United States on 9 December 2019
The book starts off with a brief overview of the types of recipes included, recommended kitchen tools, and recommended groceries to stock your kitchen with. There is also weekly meal planning tips and sample weekly meal plans. The book is broken out in chapters by meal type - such as breakfast, lunch, etc. for easy reference. Most recipes call for more than 5 ingredients but the additional items are usually spices, olive oil, etc., making them all pretty easy recipes.

The recipes also include prep time, cook time, tips and nutritional information. There is a good variety of recipes for different proteins and some of the recipes could even be adapted to swap out the protein for a different one. The recipes are also labeled as nut free, soy free, etc.

This book/these recipes would be great for people looking for new, easy recipe ideas that focus on fresh ingredients and are generally healthy. The recipes are not low carb/keto, but they are good for a standard 1500/2000 calorie daily goal of balanced calories/carbs/fat.

Overall a great book, but only giving 4 stars because there aren’t a lot of pictures in the book which is generally what I would want to see in a cook book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Needs More Pictures
Reviewed in the United States on 9 December 2019
I love browsing through cookbooks. My favorite part is the delicious-looking pictures. This cookbook has fantastic recipes that are easy to follow. They also list the nutritional information, which I find to be very helpful. My only complaint is that there aren't many pictures. I like to see what the dish is supposed to look like when it's finished. Other than that minor complaint, this is a great cookbook.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this review. I hope the information that I've provided makes your decision a little easier.

4.0 out of 5 stars Some great recipes, but "staples in my kitchen?"
Reviewed in the United States on 5 December 2019
The sample menus at the front are a nice addition so you can work these into your week, but the section on staples in the kitchen are just odd...I don't keep frozen mangoes in my freezer on a regular basis! That's just one odd thing - I don't drink milk much any more. I drink almond or coconut milk and neither of them are great alternates to "real" milk. Now, for my own use, I do keep dry milk on hand when I have a recipe that calls for milk. I add the dry milk along with a small amount of butter to add the fat back in. Anyway, just saying that while this cookbook has some great recipes, the author assumes some things that just aren't true about households...it's okay, I won't be making all the recipes in the book. Still, this is a nice cookbook that may people should try!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for People who are "Cooking Challenged"
Reviewed in the United States on 17 December 2019
My history with cooking goes way back and I wouldn't necessarily say I don't know how to cook but I can say that as a mother who home schools 3 children all day, dinner is usually the thing to fall by the wayside. The last thing I want to do at the end of a busy day is to spend hours in a cook book creating gorme dishes. I don't have the time or patience or energy for that. I need easy and simple recipes that don't take up a lot of time. That's why I was really excited to receive this book.

This is a simple and straightforward recipe book. The recipes only use easy ingredients to cook with and they don't take a lot of time or knowledge to prepare them. I don't know why this is titled "5 ingredient fresh and easy cookbook" because many of these recipes include more than 5 ingredients though. Either way, these are all things I can do without having to spend a lot of time on them.

The only thing I was disappointed about was that there are hardly any pictures in this book. I like recipe books that include the pictures of the meals so I know what to expect and what to work towards in terms of how it is supposed to look. For the seasoned chef, this would probably not be an issue but for normal people like me, it can get a little confusing.
