To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
These are a perfect companion for your Oculus Quest, the short cable doesn't get in your way and there are 3 earbud sizes for comfort. The sound however is a bit disappointing. Volume is OK but it is almost mono with very little depth? So you can't hear an enemy approaching from behind for example. OK if you just want to play games without disturbing anyone around you but I suppose at this price you can't expect too much.
The bottom line for these Oculus Quest mono headphones is they're cheaply made, bass heavy that interferes with the mids and highs but if you're not an audiophile, it'll work. You get what you pay for with these @ $12. They aren't a nice surprise and not worth a 4 or 5 star review. 3 stars is generous if you review the product without price considerations.
They have good weight but you can tell right when you insert the earbud how cheaply they are made. The weight fools you on the quality of the buds but they are cheap. They crackle as you insert them very noisy and easy to produce (I believe its called driver flex). Higher end buds have very little to no crackling.
On the Oculus Quest, the bass and volume will be improved when compared to the stock sound without headphones but you'll lose the 3D sound effect and the clarity is a little worse. You'll probably lose the 3D sound with most headphones anyways.
I'm debating on keeping them or not. I think I'll just fork over the $50 for the Oculus branded ones.
They're fine. I bought them before I received my Quest, as a few reviews I had read said the sound of the Quest was not immersive enough. I actually found the sound of the Quest quite good, and wished I hadn't ordered these.
The fit in my ear was just okay with the standard buds. The smaller ones were better. Truthfully, though, I almost never used them. I liked picking up ambient sound from the room without the earbuds, and I never used them in a situation where I needed to be quiet.
Most importantly, the new Quest 2 will not use these. It will just use standard RCA jack headphones.
I don't want to give a really bad review to a product that is decent. I just a) don't love them, b) prefer not to use them, and c) wish I hadn't bought them.
If you have an original Oculus Quest and are looking for headphones for a more immersive experience, these are a good way to go. I have a pair for sale. Like new.
