Bought the book in anticipation of receiving a 3d printer. Well written and explained, so far picked up alot of information as a new user. Glad I purchased before fully diving into my 3d printing as it will definitely help with any problems I encounter, plus having Sean willing to help if something occurs that the book doesn't cover, certainly does not hurt! Would recommend for new users maybe the experienced too.
Bought a Creality Ender 3 Pro and soon began to appreciate the power, and associated complexity, of all the settings you can change in the cura slicing software I decided to use. YouTube videos and the All3DP ezine and blog were hugely helpful but I wanted having a book where I could flick through the pages to look up my latest failure. This book is amazingly helpful. It has useful chapters explaining the basics of materials, (how and why 3D printing works), important tips to bear in mind before you start, and a comprehensive list of everything that might go wrong, with a detailed list of solutions to try. Emailing the author gets you PDF of the book as well as loads of top quality colour images Illustrating print failures and difference between, say, an old nozzle versus same object printed with a new nozzle. It was no trouble emailing, though I did have to hunt in the book for the email address (it is on p2, just above the Warnings section as well as in other sections). The response came quickly and the files were made available on a shared drive. I now use the book and supplement it with the images on my iPad that I can enlarge to see detail. The writing both knowledgeable and very easy to read and understand. Not too much jargon, so well suited to a beginner like me. A must-have for anyone starting out on 3D printing.
The reason I purchased this was because it purported to have photos of all the issues mentioned in the book but the writer might as well have put black boxes in their place as they were totally un-viewable. There is an offer of providing HD color photos if you email the writer but I received no response despite several emailed requests. For someone who says they are a big supporter of consumer 3d printing the quality issue and total lack of after sales support has left me very unhappy. If the writer gets back before the returns deadline with an improved set of photos I will amend this feed back as the book content itself is pretty good. It is just a shame that it is degraded by the poor quality of the books photos.
Although new to the FDM 3D printing world, I am an engineer by training and, as soon as I bought my first machine this year, it was immediately obvious how precarious the FDM 'home DIY' printer actually is. I was already beginning to apply logic and figure some things out by myself and, with the online forums, there is lots more info out there for the taking of course, but I wanted to sit and read about it to take stock. This is the book you need in order to do that. This book explains not only the 'how to' but importantly also the 'whys'. It is only if you actually know why, do you move forward with your own knowledge and progress. Fantastic book.
this is one of those purchases that you say to yourself wish I had got this earlier . very helpful text and photos , hard to put down once you start reading as a complete novice in all things 3d I have learnt a lot and have a great reference book to look back at from time to time you wouldn't be disappointed buying this publication you can even request better quality photos from the author to accompany it, a sincere after sales service . go on buy it !
This is an excellent informative book to help users of 3D printers diagnose print problems and to adjust and maintain their machines for best results. The only criticism is that the quality of the photographs in the book, published be Amazon, are not very good, but high definition photos and a .pdf version of the book are available free of charge to buyers by sending an email to the author Sean Aranda. Definitely recommended.
This book covers a multitude of common and unusual issues with filament-based 3D printing, and how to fix them. It is clear and has a lot of photos. The greyscale photos in the Amazon print-on-demand book are pretty good, but if you don't see the detail you may need to understand issues with layer height or adhesion, then send a proof of purchase to the author and he will give you the interactive PDF. It has full colour photos which are very clear, and can be zoomed into for even more detail. The editing and writing is not great, but the content is very useful and well organised.
I have read it from cover to cover and found it very interesting. OK you can find out most things on you tube, but for a quick reference this is ideal and well presented without being over technical, and priced about right. The author apologises for some of the photographs in the book but promises to send better ones on proof of purchase.
Well put together valuable information good reference book always to hand I bought a 2019 Edition and I use it over and over again there's lots more information and I would highly recommend this book to anybody
This is a fantastic resource for helping to diagnose and fix dozens of 3D printer problems. Each one is carefully explained with examples and pictures, along with many suggestions for solutions. The author is clearly very experienced in this area, knowledgeable and enthusiastic to help out. Suitable for a complete beginner (as I was - used the book to successfully resolve a few issues) as well as a more experienced 3D printer user. Highly recommended.
