A good sander, which replaced a corded one. Unfortunately the size of the square sanding sheets is wider that the rectangular ones more widely used (of which I had quite a stock). I find the switch a little fiddly to press in the correct place, but otherwise it is a good tool and comfortable to hold. I didn't buy a battery as it takes the same battery as my de Walt multi tool for which I keep a spare battery.
Great sander. Dust collector does okay, about as good as other's I've used. These days I mainly do my sanding projects on a sanding table at a makers-space so dust isn't an issue, however I have coupled my vacuum to this at home and it works great in that regard, but the collector will suffice in a pinch. Eats batteries. I find that by the time one battery is dead, another has just finished charging, and I kinda go into a rotation process throughout the project. I bought this for small projects so that's fine. If I had a big project or was going to use it a lot, I'd probably have gone for the corded version. All said and done, though, I'm happy with my purchase and anyone looking for a cordless sander in this bracket would, I believe, be satisfied.
Returned to Amazon the 1st one ordered because one of the metal clasps securing the wire sandpaper clamps was defective. This replacement looks ok. Other than that, it's about as good as any other 1/4 sheet sander I've used. The dust bag is slightly smaller than others, so that's a plus. Battery Life--sanders are in the class of tools that are on for long periods--you should own 2 batteries if you plan on doing lots of sanding. Battery models will always beat corded models in terms of portability, unless this is strictly for shop use.
Like not having to fight power cord. Make sure to get the dust hose connector that’s not included( really DeWalt?, I have to buy a separate fitting to connect the sander to a hose!!!) Dislike the balance due to weight of battery and dust ejection port, both on same side. To maintain uniform contact between sanding pad and work piece requires tighter grip and downward pressure which causes wrist/hand fatigue.IMO Not as comfortable to use as 5” round orbital sanders.
I do love this tool but wish it would be smaller for the palm of my hand. It's def made for a bigger hand to be able to handle it better. Wish dewalt would come out with a smaller palm size for a better female hand fit but other than that its a great tool!
