I just got the product. I went to download the documentation. The only way to do that is to sign in with Facebook, Google, or your email. This means they might have personal information about you and your email address, and then can share it with others.
I had trouble downloading the zip files from my Chromebook. (OT: That 5 year software license ran out.) When I tried it on Windows, the only issue I had was that I had to extract allfiles.zip before installing the libraries.
I loaded the alarm clock sample. The B segments were all lit and brighter than the other segments, on both of the units I purchased. The 4 digit assembly specs told me that the B segment was controlled by pin 6. Looking at that pin, I saw that it touched the USB receptacle outer case. Backing the shield off the base a bit fixed the problem for the short term. For the long term, I put a Post-It tab on the USB case. The tab and case are almost exactly the same width. That solved the problem for the longer term, and explains the header extensions.
I had two problems compiling the sample: First the page footers came with the code and I had to delete them manually. Second, the indentations were lost.
So far I have found the product and the creator(s) to be clever, valuable, and creative. If they can get past their quality control and identity protection issues they might have a great future.

Update: I found a YouTube video that described the same B segment issue and a similar solution. Apparently these folks copied someone else's specifications.
The Multi-function shield looks like a copy of the Velleman VMA209.
Thousands and thousands of other projects have documentation and software downloads not trapped behind a signup requirement, but eeeee.shop is holding the promised materials hostage behind an email signup. Meh.
I made a fake account and it turns out the "special" website just contains a 4-year-old version of the cohesivecomputing.co.uk "hackatronics" materials.
This item is a fantastic value and perfect for trying out some Arduino features. It is much better than manipulating little wires on a breadboard (which I always seem to somehow mess up). I have not yet gone through the tutorials, but they appear to be complete and easy to follow.
I did have a bit of difficulty getting the files. I had expected to just click on the available files and have them show up in my "downloads" folder. This did not work as I expected. Apparently, I was supposed to use something like "Zip Extractor".
But, I sent them an email and they replied quickly and included the "All Files.zip" file that provided everything in need. So, they lost a star for the difficulty in getting the files, but gained it back for the excellent technical support.
I bought this months ago, finally got around to testing it. The unit malfunctioned when I plugged it in, beeping and flashing part of the LED display. Evidently, the shield had shorted out on the metal enclosure of the USB port, as I had neglected to to desolder the headers built into the board, swapping in the proper shield-length headers kindly supplied with the product. I applied a few layers of electrical tape atop the USB port, thinking that should adequately mitigate the risk of shorts between the shield & dev board. Alas, my efforts failed -- the sharp solder points of the LED display pierced the tape effortlessly. (A piece of cardstock would likely have done the trick.)
Reworking boards -- especially desoldering headers -- without damaging the board can be challenging, without pro gear (or a little technique and a lot of patience.) It's certainly not what I signed up for.
So perhaps the seller's begun pre-installing the correct headers, in which case this could be a nice product, for the price. Apart from the aforementioned, my biggest gripe would be that the potentiometer is a trimmer style that requires a mini screwdriver, rather than something more finger-friendly.
I have done a lot of projects using Arduino boards. Very often I have to use breadboards to connect buttons, LED's etc. This board is handy because it has many of those items in one small package, thus eliminating the need for the breadboard in many cases.
The online documentation is very good. Just do a search and you will find everything you need to know.
What could stand improvement? 1. The LED display leads are too long and short out against the Arduino USB connector. I had to clip them, and then apply some tape. 2. Some of the sample apps do not work without minor tweaks. No they are not a big deal if you have a functional understanding of C programming. 3. The build quality could use a little improvement because the headers are not installed straight. None of the above are major obstacles for most people.
What would be nice? Maybe a version with all green LEDs. Green is easier on the eyes.
This generally works well as a copy of the multi-function shield. I haven't found any incompatibilities yet. Others have pointed out that the shield will short out against the top of the USB connector chassis so you need to sandwich something in between as you attach the shield to the main board. Even after that, I needed to fiddle with the header connections to make all the display segments work properly. The pins on the shield that are supposed to be 5V are 4.75V or less (yes, the supply was a solid 5V).
It's difficult to complain too much about something like this that costs less than $11 but I'm sure the quality is not on par with the more expensive boards. Still, if you want to goof around with Arduino, this is a great way to go.
The EEEE Uno and Multi-Function Shield Starter kit arrived quickly after my order. When I set it up and ran some sketches to turn on the LEDs on the shield, one of them did not turn on. During diagnostics, I discovered the non-operating LED had been put on the circuit board in the wrong polarity. I was able to make a repair so the LED lights properly now.
The Uno board works 100% as as required out of the box and now the repaired Multifunction shield does too.
I communicated this with EEEE and their customer service provided me with a complete refund. This is customer service that is "above and beyond". I am fully aware that errors occur in manufacturing every once in a while. HOW a company's customer service department handles customer issues often tells the quality of the company. EEEEE, and their response to my issue puts them in the best of classes.
I recommend EEEEE Uno board and Multifunction shield products for anyone interested I them in the future.
I use arduino for hobby projects to see what sensors are available. This project included a shiels with multiple sensors. So fr I have only used the four numeric or digits for display. Looking to find project to use all the sensors.
Initially had some issues getting the libraries to work but finally resolved and the product works great especially at this price point!
1) Libraries -- I ended up manually extracting and copying the files into the Arduino library directory. When I was attempting to add the library directly via Aruino Sketch menu - add library add *.zip I was not having succes. Not sure why but extracted manually and copying to the Ardino libray that resolved the issues that were preventing the sketch from compiling.
2) Use the latest Arduino IDE. I was initially using version 1.06 (really old) and had problems with that even after the library was added manually. Updated to Version 1.8.13. Problems resolved.
I got others to buy them and taught them Arduino IDE. Very rewarding to see my son and others coding. Good product. Used it to make a LED strings run with my son (used FastLED), used keys to control LEDs (without the librarys). Also, working on a RTC (DS3231 and large LED display) clock.
Simple, cheap, and the board is almost free, the price covers the UNO...
